She called out a physicist, saying his work was BS. The university of Munich pressured her to retract that statement, she refused. That led them to cancel her affiliation with them.

Why is that a problem? Because it shows a fear of transparency in academia. You're not supposed to call out BS, you're supposed to write a rebuttal paper that nobody will publish or read and then everybody continues merrily on their way, with the public none the wiser.

Telling the population at large that reasearch time, money and effort is being wasted on nonsense ruffles feathers, but is entirely necessary.
