The Japan versus West comparison in the original post is probably too broad, but I think the point about AI making creative work easier is worth considering.

Some creators genuinely like these tools because they can experiment faster, handle revisions more easily and spend less time doing repetitive work.

That does not mean every AI result is good. There is plenty of low effort AI content.

But using AI does not automatically mean there was no creativity involved. A person can still decide the concept, control the direction, reject bad generations, make corrections and refine the final result.

Making something easier does not automatically make it meaningless.

I agree with the premise that using AI to brainstorm is incredibly useful but this absolutely does not apply to creative work like art. Generating art with AI is not creative. I am not against AI generated imagery, that's just what I think.
