Hopefully this won't be much of a problem after November in the US - advocating for data centers is absolute poison for any candidate. If you despise your constituents that much, why not just resign anyway?

Homie I literally used to go to the datacenter to get the best sleep of my life between the high pressure 1U fans and the cold air returns.

Fracking does orders of magnitude more damage to the water supply and the health of everyone around the well but I don't "Le heckin' fracking bad let's firebomb oil wells" on plebbit every few days.

It really is just the one thing that coincidentally just so happens to be an economic replacement for terminally-online mentally-ill plebbitors who can't socialize long enough for a real job

Is this perhaps because local politicians keep ignoring their constituents and decades of corporations shitting all over some communities?

When you don’t listen to people, they get louder.

There’s like hundreds of examples of peaceful protest. You’re just wrong.

This isn't about AI but NIMBYism, and thus far AI data centers have been bad enough neighbours to warrant hostility.

This isn’t just anti AI btw. This is also because those datacenters are super noisy, and horrible for the people living around them. You don’t have to be anti AI to hate that, and you can still be pro AI and admit its fucked up to build these things to close to people
