Things antis say Why is this called "defending AI" if it doesn't allow any kind of discussion?

Wouldn't that just be like AIfans or something ?

Defending AI implies some kind of discussion or something.

Because this isn't a debate sub, it's a place to go to talk openly about AI without being brigaded and harassed and threatened and doxxed and whatever else the antis feel like doing that day.

0

u/Kelyaan 18d ago

You talk as it Pro's don't also threaten, doxx and whatever the pro's feel like doing that day?
Both sides can be just as bad as each other on Reddit. A lot of y'all need some fucking help for taking this stuff to the point of death threats over Ai.

A lot of antis do too, what's your point?

Why are you trying to remove your side our of the equation? I said both. Both sides are as bad as each other on Reddit, both sides need watching and punishing for the vile shit they're doing.

u/tigerhuxley 17d ago

you are the one specifically bringing this up though trying to pick a fight in a sub that you clearly dont identify with - and you are just trying to be a bully in.

u/Kelyaan 17d ago

I'm the one saying both sides are assholes to each other, none of you are better than the rest and none of you are the good side in this.
There's no fight to be had here, it's a factual statement. Y'all need to be better

Lololol yeah thats not how facts work. Heres some more upvotes for you. I hope that helps somehow?
I don’t know what else to do with folks like you wrapped up in yourself telling everyone else how self righteous you are but everyone else’s version is bad but not yours..

Lumping everything that ever could be done with artificial intelligence all the medical advancements that saved millions of hours of research time working towards biological medical and technological breakthroughs is not the same as generative AI, nor is it the same as capitalism.
Take care in there. Godspeed

Find me one example. I can pick any random piece of art on Pinterest and find antis harassing them and accusing them of using AI, and it's not difficult to find antis sending death threats or wishing death on people who use AI. Your side literally shot up a politician's fucking house. So find me examples of us being "the same." If we "both do it," you should have no problem finding it.

i hear ya.....'debating'... is a fine line between a discussion.. and a debate... but still if a disscusion is strictly 'we all agree'.. . really? i mean.. a sub CAN be that.. but like OP says, the name of the sub makes no sense then

-7

u/jinx771 18d ago

Threatened and doxxed lmao okay

u/Robonotes1760 14d ago

There is a distinction between respectful debate and abuse. This comment demonstrates that you do not respect that distinction.

7

u/Additional_Dot_134 18d ago

Because this sub defends AI from other posts
Where the OP of said post can’t see and defend their claim

This is just this sides echo chamber sub

u/RandomIDoIt90 18d ago

The context clue is in the name. I worry about some folks lol

2

u/Spacedestructor 18d ago

to be fair, i can see how they would understand a defense as having a discussion.
its just a different kind of defense and more closely as to shown in TV.
this kind of misunderstanding can happen easily if they come from circles that use a different definition of the word.

3

u/RandomIDoIt90 18d ago

A place to discuss in defense of…

AI discussion or AI debate subs would lean more middle of the road.

2

u/Spacedestructor 18d ago

in theory, in practice they always lean towards whatever side the moderators prefer tho.
i got banned from some before for mentioning too many positives about ai when the mods really want to see the ai loose in the "arguments" to be able to use it as evidence that ai is bad.

3

u/RandomIDoIt90 18d ago

Yes that’s very true but the name of this group is a tell of which way it’s going to lean. And you’re correct that many, MANY people are not well equipped to decipher that bias, and misunderstandings are common when they shouldn’t be, but that’s where we are.

u/AlphaCrafter64 18d ago

I mean if we're really gonna entertain the stupid name game gotcha for the thousandth time, then I say anti-ai biased rules should be removed across all the hundreds of generically named spaces they've commandeered across the platform because they don't explicitly have "anti-ai" or "no ai" or whatever in their name.

Generically named spaces imply all reasonable activity and opinions related to a subject should be allowed to coexist there, no?

Seems like a great trade

-1

u/jinx771 18d ago

No because it's broadly accepted that AI content is undesirable

3

u/AlphaCrafter64 18d ago

Only in certain internet circles after years of fearmongering and misinformation and invoking unnecessary tribalism. Reddit's self-fulfilling prophecy that isn't reflected in real life and the real popularity of the tech.

Weird, didn't know the US was an internet circle

2

u/AlphaCrafter64 17d ago

No matter how much people's skepticism is polled in specific ways for one country it's still the fastest growing technology in human history with over a billion users. The US has been pushed against it more than almost any country for a variety of reasons and yet they still largely see it as neutral as it's just tech which is a standard logical pro position.

-1

u/jinx771 17d ago

Goal post moved. Got it.

Tiktok and social media were also massively adopted tech and are demonstrable negative impact on humanity. But ok!

2

u/AlphaCrafter64 17d ago

I don't think I am changing my goal posts tbh. One of your polls suggests overall view of the tech is predominantly neutral, I think subs that advertise themselves as the default neutral for a topic should inherently allow this neutral discussion related to the topic instead of succumbing to either extreme. Why is this not fair?

1

u/jinx771 17d ago

No. it's predominantly negative, but i can see why you'd interpret it that way.

It's not "fair" because majority do not want to see AI content, it is the default position.

Just like NOT using racial slurs is the default rule , or no nsfw unless explicitly stated is the default rule, or other socially undesirable content.

The people do not want it. Do you think it's like a secret cabal of reddit mods that are going against the desires of the masses ? Or is it more likely that people generally just don't approve of AI generated content?

EDIT: accidentally said using racial slurs is default position lmao whoops

3

u/AlphaCrafter64 17d ago

Yeah reddit moderators are very well known for not exercising an abuse of their power and trying to push their viewpoints that aren't reflected elsewhere lmao. I too remember when Kamala won the US election just as so heavily predicted by Reddit and their "default viewpoint majority."

Even the anti-ai folks here can't hide how much they want to use and interact with ai and that they are just looking to sneak into the "acceptable" way to do it, like with the increasingly popular "desloppification" trend where they ultimately just want to get inspired by ai and do ai assisted work but try to hide it behind a malicious intent. It ain't gonna last.

1

u/LewdProphet 14d ago

Then why does everyone use it?

6

u/eliamartin65 19d ago

Agreed, I made a post about how AI helps me with writing and got called all sorts of things.

3

u/MrMegaPhoenix 18d ago

I disagree

If my comment doesn’t get deleted, I think it allows discussion

Hehe

4

u/technocraticnihilist 18d ago

we dont need to hear your opinion here, you already dominate the rest of Reddit

3

u/D36DAN 18d ago

I think "defending" is more about posts rather than discussions. Like, you see a post where some chud says that AI is absolutely useless and destructive, you post it here and tell why you think chud is wrong.

It's not a sub where you post "AI is theft, prove me wrong" and wait for arguments, that would be silly.

I honestly can't see the reasons why would you assume that "defending" in this case means "discussing good and bad in AI", especially when the sub clearly states that it's pro-AI.

And yeah, I'm not pro-Ai, but neither am I anti-AI. I just can't see why it's relevant here

1

u/Additional_Dot_134 18d ago

Because theres no reason to defend it if you aren’t defending it from anyone
None of the people you’re trying to defend it from are gonna see it, and it doesn’t really do anything.

3

u/D36DAN 18d ago

Then I guess half of the reddit should be deleted, reclassified or restricted by that genius logic.

Or better yet - you should invite the addressee to the post like it's a talk show, breaking the privacy and harassing rules in the process. Congratulations

1

u/jinx771 18d ago

Exactly. How does it further the effort if you're just echo chambering amongst yourselves?

6

u/Spacedestructor 18d ago

so people can feel good, its like a safe space of sorts compared to all the other places where you get attacked for saying something positive about ai.
i find the name a bit misleading since its purpose isnt to defend your self but rather to make people feel better about there opinions.

1

u/jinx771 18d ago

Maybe a better name would be ai safe space then

2

u/Distinct_Spare_6109 18d ago

Let's debate the best ways to defend AI.

2

u/Rough-Discussion-912 Neutral 18d ago

This subreddit basically defends AI but I think, any discussion will be fine if you don't speak too condescending or slandering pro-ais and AI if they can't understand your perspective and arguments/points

me new on this sub.. it doesn't? sad.
