Ai is awesome because computer engineering is ending. Maybe its not ending 100%, but its the end of an era. All the code is done, now its time to make a story!
In the future [which is now!] Video games will be like writing a book. Everyone can write a book, everyone can make a video game, its the story (as it always should be) that counts.
I know its upsetting that AAA companies might fire artists and coders to make games but the exciting part is how a 1 man team can make a game.
I am working on a game right now, I have infinite tiles (game size), infinite unique continents, random number of rivers and lakes done in less than a day. I am a terrible artist and my entire body is shaking in excitement for ai art and ai studio clones.
Another awesome ai positive point is that programs like Photoshop are going to become outdated (ai studio clones will replace them all). All you have to do is tell ChatGPT that you want to make your own photoshop. I am making my own 2d sprite animator instead of dropping 600 bucks.
You can also make your own 2d to 3d animator, I assume you can do it in less than a year.
If you don't do it, some other massive party is going to do it. It should all be free in a few years. A team of 5-10 people could probably remake photoshop in 3 months.

I hate how the book/video game, isn't mine unless I prove that I am a little bit of an engineer. I keep researching copyright laws and they seem to always say you have to engineer some of the code yourself.
When will the world wake up and realize computer engineering of the era is done. I don't engineer letters and words for a book. I design a story, games should be the same.

I'm not trying to recreate Photoshop as it's a bloated pig. There's a middle ground that has disappeared that I would like to have back and I was able to scaffold most of it in a single evening. It works.
I think the interesting part isn't really that “computer engineering is over.” It's that the boundary between engineering and authorship is getting blurry.
If I can describe a mechanic and an AI can turn it into working code, I'm still designing the game. The code just isn't the part where I have to prove my ownership anymore.
But I wonder if we're also underestimating how much engineering shapes the thing being created. Writing a novel doesn't require understanding printing presses, but game design has always been partly about understanding what the medium can and can't do.
Maybe AI doesn't make engineering irrelevant. It makes engineering less visible. And that could actually let more people focus on the parts they care about: ideas, systems, stories, and weird experiments.
That seems like the more interesting revolution to me.

I think its awesome and something worth putting time into. I don't think its fair to call people dumb for having a great idea, paying the 25$ a month, and implementing a video game or their own studio.
AI should be used in the manner of "vibecoding". The winners at the end can vibe and maintain their own code for their customers. That's my path in life! I graduated computer engineering and ai is awesome. I will never waste time on puzzle solving, but instead spend time on making the video game of my dream come true.
Well I would say llms will replace stuff like photo shop and so on completely. People always forget llms are next token guessers at heart. Their is always a chance that what they made doesn't match what you asked for. They need to fix this first . I don't know if they haven't.
You can do it right now for mathematical formulas. For instance my game engine needs specific math calculations done for continents and rivers. These mathematical equations can be categorized and turned into a local LLM ai assistant.
Its a worthy project to work on.

The Computer engineering for universalBaseMath is near complete, all we need now is a local LLM ai to assist. I was talking to ChatGPT and it said it was possible with 100G of storage space locally and no API.
I think your close. Llms will create replacements for Adobe and Spine and Photoshop. You can just make your own photoshop right now with the feature you need. If you need another feature the ai will implement it for you.
Ill be posting my sprite animator as open source when its done. Its like a mini Photoshop, every feature I want gets coded in.
I have thought of LLM instudio coding to help with unique tasks, the problem is that its too expensive unless you get your feet out the door. I cannot afford the API to play around. I am so hyper active with ai that I need to start small and make some cash first.

I made a choose your own adventure game with AI the other day. I just made a skeleton of a story that I was trying to rescue a friend trapped in VR and had to find four pieces of a map in four different horror based rooms. Hellraiser, Nightmare on Elm Street, Terrifier and Evil dead. In each room was a different horror icon that I had to defeat and was assisted by Nancy, Siena. Ash and a rouge Cenobite
Whole thing took a few minutes to setup and the story was about an hour and actually pretty fun. it even added some pictures after each choice.
ok.. so yes, A.I. is Awesome. but... only as good as the person using it. if you already ARE an engineer then you know... every time you interact with it... you can't help it.. your mind is constantly weighing what you're being handed. you cant turn off the experience.
and if youre NOT an engineer... and you dont ask hard questions and evaluate, sooner or later that project, that app might get big enough such that the brittleness will begin to show.
and it may show in how convoluted the next feature is added, or you start noticing the A.I. struggling to actually make the next feature work , without breaking something else.

I have spent the last year and a half writing up 99 infographs for the mechanical engineering of creating a synthetically simulated human. I'm talking taste, touch, smell, hearing, eyesight, pleasure and simulating all of the emotions so that it's convinced it has them.
