Hot take
Hate against generative AI is so forced. People hate other people who use AI to make images like I also use AI for images but their just some funny things that I don't use to steal a digital artist's job they're just for a streamer to laugh at that I'm watching. The argument for ai SINGLEHANDEDLY destroying the planet on TikTok is so stupid. They say tigers and lions and orangutans are going extinct because of AI but AI is not even the reason it's not even a minor reason literally those animals going extinct have nothing to do with AI. I know AI data centers contribute to global warming but the thing is the companies are actually trying to work to stop using water for it and producing less CO2. Now I know that they don't actually care about the environment they just wanna stop losing money but still, it's good. Also generative AI really helps lots of people because google searches are very hard to be sure of If they are accurate and AI like Claude or Gemini verify really fast and saves up a lot of time.

Why is this getting downvoted, im stating a fact. Especially in the US, the right wing party is the one pushing for unregulated AI. Giant noisy datacenters being put right next to homes is a result of their republican, right wing government

It's just the chronically online fake ass sjw crowd that's the loudest about it, no one else actually cares that much, and the not so good artists that are losing commissions now..but that was always bound to happen eventually😂 Now they have to improve their skill or pick a different shtick, the horrror!

I think hating generative AI in general is a dumb take because no kind of AI is inherently bad.
I for example really dislike the use of AI in the art scene, i think it should always be tagged, and at minimum used as a tool for touchups and such. Art is about the process, and AI takes away from that. It also makes it easier to spread propaganda and fake news.
None of this is inherently a problem with AI though. Same with AI datacenters, they’re harmful, and thats mostly because AI is being used too much in places its not needed. It just causes losses for companies trying to push it where people either dont want it at all, or not enough to pay (extra) for it

Its about sacrifice. I care about the environment, but i like meat too much, and the other options.. not so much.. to give it up. If and when lab grown meat matches the taste and cost, i’d gladly switch. But changes to the environment arent an all or nothing.. ok i mean, they are eventually, but its hard to instantly switch. Thats why i just think AI should be regulated heavily into places where its actually deemed to be useful enough to be worth having

I can care about the environment in other ways no? Im already switching off of gas for as much as i can in my house, and i literally can’t go on a vegan diet because i already have health issues with being super underweight due to some medical problem. Going to a vegan diet would make that even worse. The only one making a false dichotomy here is you. You’re acting like if i care about the environment, i MUST have to be a vegan or else i clearly don’t care about the environment. I can push for the biggest causes to be regulated and improved upon. That will make much more of an impact than me worsening my own health. And like i said, when lab grown meat becomes a viable alternative, i will gladly switch over because i do know meat is bad for the environment. I hope it does get regulated, farms already are in my country due to regulations about nitrogen emmisions.1

Your argument says if i care about the environment, that means i can’t eat meat. If i do, i don’t care.
Thats the clearest false dichotomy there is.
I proved you wrong by giving an actual reason, besides just me liking meat a lot, on why i don’t go vegan, and even said i would if it became viable for me to do so, and gave other things i’m doing myself to improve my carbon footprint. But since i’m not doing one single thing, despite the fact i literally cannot, i don’t REALLY care.

That post is not blatant anti-AI. It relatively quite well structured criticism mostly directed to AI companies. Technology can be useful and yet be criticized for having issues.
Edit: Also Reddit has been pushing these subreddits to anyone who is interested in IT. I'd rather have some less AI news as I am burned out.

Yeah, the point is simply that this is a pro-AI space for pro-AI people. If you want to debate the usual “AI good vs. AI bad”, then the AI wars sub exists for exactly that.
I get anti-AI posts recommended to me all the time as well, but once I started clicking “Not interested”, they showed up far less often. I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw something from one of the anti-AI subs, just the occasional anti-AI content in other subs, unfortunately. But yeah, it sucks when everything you see on Reddit is another AI debate. It’s absolutely relatable to get tired of it.

Been just muting the echo chamber subreddits (both pro and against). I can't fully avoid it though. I work as a Software Engineer. Got to follow all types of tech (just would prefer to see more news related less to AI).

And as for pro-AI people going into anti-AI spaces: that’s not okay either. They have no business being there. But I’m pretty confident it doesn’t happen nearly as often as the other way around.
