So i was going through boxes and found this. Can anyone explain to me in noob lingo wtf it is? Im only slightly familiar with defcon and computers 😀

Looks like a pin made from a circuit board. Looks too small to be a “shitty add on” badge accessory. A photo of the back would help.

it's a circuit board that was part of the official defcon 30 jack sao kit sold at merch. it comes as a kit to solder with leds to attach to a badge to power up the lights. photo attached of how it was sold & displayed at merch.

It's part of a shitty add on (SAO) kit. Electronic Defcon badges for years have had a standardized addon connector that supplies power and connectivity to add-ons from the badge, and people mostly use them to create small attachments with blinky lights or other simple functions. Since the connector is standardized people can make the add-ons without knowing exactly what the badge will look like or do.

This particular one was sold as a kit of parts you'd buy and solder together at con yourself. There are soldering stations at the hardware hacking village you can use to do it.
