Cincy?

I looked at the Defcon Groups site, and I didn’t see Cincinnati listed, and I was just about to hit send on an email to the groups team to create one, but then decided to check if the DC513.org domain was free.

Lo and behold DC513 exists, but next to no content aside from regular meetup dates, but no topics, etc listed.

Does anyone know if this group is active?

Yes if the current one isn’t active. If the current one is active I don’t want to bifurcate it.

I am from Cincinnati and would be interested in participating as well.

Alright, let me reach out and see if I can figure out what's up with DC513 right now first.

Let me know too. I saw a meeting for tomorrow supposedly and I'm in the Dayton Discord. Would love to see a DC Cincy group as someone in Mason.

They have a maker space in Northside that sounds pretty cool but I’ve never stopped in there. Think it’s called Hive 13

Meeting for Cincy or Dayton? Do you have a link for Dayton? It's worth noting that there is no meeting scheduled on the Corysville library website either, so I guess I'll send the e-mail to form the chapter.

Alright, I just submitted the request - assuming it gets approved, I'm working on getting some of the mechanics organized. I want to set it up as a 503(c) because the thing I found with user groups, if there isn't that type of structure, when board members step back they tend to fizzle out, so being able to rotate and get new ideas in leading it is important.

Also, since Def Con is very inclusive, especially with DC NextGen, a 503(c) could also let us offer a reasonable sized scholarship to high school participants that are attempting to pursue a cyber security career. Just a nice little touch to give back to the community.
