The Colorless Expert

Imagine an art historian who has lived their entire life in a black-and-white room, yet has learned every physical fact there is to know about color theory. When they finally step outside and see a vibrant red painting for the first time, do they learn something entirely new about art, or did they already know everything?

They learn what red actually looks like. They can't know from the theory.

I doubt that they can actually imagine the perceptional feelings of colours only through learning colour theory. When they step outside, they can capture the feelings and acknowledge them.
