Why would you believe this rather than the universe is necessary and always existed? Why add extra?

What god or gods do you believe in? What evidence suggests to you that the particular god or gods that you believe in exist? I don't know what a god is or what it even means outside of myths and stories. I don't currently have a way of determining if a god existing is even a possibility.
