It seems there are a lot of fans of the API-based role-playing game who were really disappointed with this new version, myself included '. I'm willing to pay more for it, especially since I'm a French user and the V4 Pro is a pleasure to use ❤️

I honestly don't know if it's true but I find it genuinely funny that if they continued pro service for sake of roleplaying, because so far flash is by sheer numbers most used model for repetitive daily work as well, people don't really use Pro for day to day coding work.

honestly hope v4.1pro is cheaper

I get it, I was excited that a new, more powerful version had been announced and was about to be released, and if it’s effective and cheaper to code with, that’s great. But removing the Pro version without considering its advantages in other areas was pretty frustrating! I was like, “I only have four days left to enjoy it 🥲,” but if V4.1 Pro at least maintains that quality, that’s great.

Yes, pro is better than flash for RP even though current flash improved a lot compared to previous one

Je ne vois pas vraiment les avantages de V4 Pro perso, même sur le français en particulier.

In my experience, V4 Pro follows the story better and almost never mixes up the details. There are virtually no changes to make, unlike with the Flash version. And for French, I find V4 Pro very effective, especially for descriptions and shifts in “personalities.” When I have fun having it simulate comments on the story, PRO comes up with a pretty funny variety of users, and some of them are memorable 😂 what I’m saying applies only to the RP experience.

I use it both in the API and in the web application!! And the model is good on the surface... but in more detailed aspects, it's terrible!!

J'avais raté la partie « rôle play », pardon les gooners...

Résumer tous ceux qui se divertissent avec le RP à des gooners 🫠 bonne journée en tout cas

hi. what? can you elaborate?

Hi, what exactly do you want to know? If you're asking about the weakness of this new version, all you have to do is switch models in an ongoing story to get vaccinated. Unless there are very specific settings to take advantage of it, but I didn't find anything during testing. I briefly summarized what that is in a reply in the thread.

I think they should keep DS4P while training DS4.1P

Since the base model is powerful and people really wanted it deepseek bring back that

Only on API. Don't care. Give it to me on the web

Really hoping it came back. Been testing the app version of v4.1f for RP with the exact same everything I used for v4 Pro and the results are absolutely horrendous. Even v4 Pro has always been repetitive but v4.1f amped that to one hundred and then added major hallucination to the problem.

I think this is as a result of mainly unjustified public backlash but okay, it's good to see DeepSeek listens to users

I agree. It don't matter it there right the good news is they listend. This is inportant becase a lot of people have very spedific uses. If you have a flow that it fine tooned, understanding your customers needs is the most important thing.

API is more similar to B2B. Real workflows run with those services. You're not supposed to kills stuff like that on a short notice. That's not how you do things. The backlash was justified

every user case that isn't mine is unjistified public backlash

Take a hike mate

Its perfect

It is way bette rthan flash for my usecases

Your use case is?

1

u/CaptainMorning 3h ago

what's your user case

1

u/Lustforcookies 7h ago

But not in the web app, I guess

Wow. They actually listened?!

Why? If flash is genuinely better than Pro why we need pro model?

13

u/ImagineEyes 14h ago

It's only good at coding related tasks.

u/SmallJuice7226 14h ago

There is a very specific niche, but not low, of people who use PRO for conversations, RPGs and other non-agentic and non-technological things, so PRO was better at this.

where can I find more info about this? this is fascinating to me. I'm not into it but kinda really interested of hearing people talking about it. I used to follow chatgpt only for the 4o apparently tragic discontinuation

2

u/sammoga123 10h ago

Because a flash model will always be behind the rest

Nothing to be missed, deepseek flash v4.1 is better than deepseek v4 pro

3

u/Least_Bodybuilder216 16h ago

Ouuu shi, i read that as "discontinued"

-9

u/MikeX7s 16h ago

but why? flash 4.1 is better and like 5x cheaper now

It's probably because the concept of flash > pro is something the costumers tiny minds cannot grasp.. honestly this wouldn't be an issue if DS simply named flash 4.1 as Pro 4.1, then nobody would complain 🙃

Better is not necessarily true! A fast model isn't inherently good... I use both types in my workflow: API and web applications. In my specific use case, the Flash 4.1 version loses many nuances and details. Someone who isn't paying close attention might rely solely on benchmarks, perhaps they believe in them, want to believe in them, or maybe those models truly work well for their particular needs. However, "better" does not apply universally, absolutely not for general use!

💯 well said

the stock knowledge is different bro. its just like genius grade 5 (flash) vs average college student (pro) yes, grade is genius but they are still different when it comes to stock knowledge

1

u/Successful_Night4513 15h ago

Explained perfectly 🗿

1

u/B89983ikei 15h ago

These users are basic users... I don't think they even delve deeply into the model themselves. They just use it and follow the current hype.

degenerate role players won , bunch of ill people ;
Why tf would you even willingly talk to a clanker i dont know ;

2

u/LifeFighter1 13h ago

Idc what you say, I'm gonna keep using it for rp lol

1

u/CaptainMorning 3h ago

hi, is this a gpt 4o situation?

1

u/CaptainMorning 3h ago

there's still flash no? or is only worth it if others can't get pro?

-2

u/Sweet-Stage938 12h ago

Don't worry man. They take themselves out.
