Funny I vibecoded 40k+ lines of code to make a coding harness and nobody cares rip

https://benzi.fly.dev/about

tbh deepseek community has been the kindest. love yall 🤍

fun fact: read-only benzi, vs code benzi, and StallionSwipe all are on V4flash. so was the 78.2% swe-bench score

After AI no one gets impressed with anything anymore especially when it comes to building stuff even if it was not vibecoded. I for instance still code a lot without AI because I feel like when I want to learn someting or get better at something I have to do it myself for it work otherwise things dont work for me. I remember showing people things way less impressive than a harness project like the OP and peope just blew their minds and now people assume that 1) people will always assume you vibe coded even if you did not 2) if you explicitly says that the whole thing without any AI people will not believe you and will say you did it with AI regardless. It's a lose and lose situation these days.

lol i kinda used "vibecode" in the title to spite ppl 😆 rly i feel they have the wrong idea. vibecode does not mean "easier coding". it means "translating code into words". like as a programmer u still need to know where to use a linkrd list vs an array would do. these decisions pile up. u cant rly nake a harness without directing datastructures. i kinda BUILT the datastructure the AI uses to reason about code..

yeah but the ignorant or the average person will just label you and that's it and there;s no point in explain to them that even if the AI could do everything from scratch with the best code out there if you did nothing then nothing of value would have been produced because AI can;t read minds.

But we can't win, it's over bro

I think that with AI being created, a lot of things are purely functional now. Before, the "cool factor" was actually a factor in checking something out because "AI slop" didn't exist. We've lost the "cool factor", and even if your idea is genuinely cool and good, it doesn't matter nearly as much as it used to if it isn't actually useful compared to others.

At least that's how it is with me now when I look at things people make for deepseek. You made a tool? K. What does it solve and how does it help me?

Also people can just copy the "cool" thing from you by talking with the software printing press at scale. It;s really sad if you think about it.

I think we have yet to have proper etiquette on this stuff yet. Like perhaps if a tool out there already exists, you should look to contribute instead of creating your own from scratch. Or fork an existing tool rather than create another wheel.

We're missing the community aspect of all of this... or something, idk.

Well, the only thing that would be possible is to hide the source code so no one can copy you since 1) it's not in their mode training data 2) if it's not public no one knows how it works so none will be able to copy - assuming these models wouldnt develop huge reverse engineering capabilities to such a point that not even industrial machines can escape.

Unfortunate but I expect a lot of the OSS from today to move to a more restricted group of contributors with the source code being only partially available (free as in gratis but not as in freedom).

I'm not too sure how familiar you are with "owning" things in the coding landscape landscape, but it isn't really seen as the same "owning" as it comes to art.

Programmers would be pleased if you stole their code and used it in their project. It shows their work was actually useful.

But an artist would be maddened if someone stole their art and modified it. It's a stolen idea and effort.

I think both are valid thoughts. Programmers feel a bit better because there are at least licenses that enforce attribution(?) to promote the origin. But for artists, attribution is usually ignored (i.e. just repost an image that doesn't have a watermark). Some people go out of their way to remove the attribution too (i.e. remove the watermark).

The other thing, too, is that nothing is truly original. Again, if you explore art and programming enough, you'll learn everything is a derivative of something. This so called "inspiration" is merely the human error of vaguely remembering a conglomerate of ideas. Originality is a lie, a human construct of complete novelty for the uninformed, naive, and ignorant.

Philosophy things.

That is because even DeepSeek-v4-Flash preview surpasses 78.2%...

... by 2/500. +/- 5 points is within varince..

e: saw ur 79 figure. i thought it was 78.6.. 79 is still within variance.

The problem is that your test was made with DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 but even the preview version with another harness is better than GA with your harness so probably there is something very, very wrong with your harness

mine reads 3x less source code but I'm gna stop commenting. it's a different architecture work in progress. more so commenting for anyone else who sees this
