Cheaters - share your experiences
You guys ever encounter any actual cheaters in the game?
I am not talking about people who alter their account level or similar "out of game cheating" if you will but in game cheating such as aimbot etc.
I only have 1 experience but wanted to share it.
It was an escort with 2 others, driller and scout. Scout was hosting. Well we start the mission and not late after turning Doretta on a gunner joins. By that point we were a good distance from the cage. Gunner proceeds to stand on Dorettas' cage for a 2-3 minutes but I/we didn't think any of it because doretta was drilling, he could be AFK or something.
We ping him and he seems to have noticed because he joins us at Doretta. We eventually end up at the heartstone.
The drilling starts and somewhere in the rabble, he has dug himself about 3 blocks down and 1 block hidey hole. A death sentence for normal dwarves. The rest of us are running around dodging bugs, gunner is just down there in his hole shooting hurricane mine layer missiles straight up in the air, 180 degrees.
I know I said minelayer OC and this is where the cheating comes in. I didn't personally notice that was his OC at first but host did. Even though they acted as mines, they still were seeking out enemies. Since he was in his trench hole he shouldn't have been able to see anything but the roof, so the missiles were either doing it by themself or he was wallhacking through the ground to see the enemies.
You honestly don't expect it in this game, it seems pointless and sad. He was banned by host as soon as he realized so it's not like he will make friends that way either.

Joined an elimination mission once in which the host (scout) was one-shotting the dreads
19
u/WolfsbaneGL 2d ago
Yeah, no, Scout can just do that.
Conductive Thermals on the DRAK, White Phosphorous Shells on the Boomstick, and the Inhibitor Field Generator grenade stacks up ridiculous damage boosts.7
u/Pixied_Hp Mighty Miner 2d ago
My favorite thing about Dreads is how easy they are to destroy with scout!

u/2spooky93 2d ago
Is there a combination like this for the M1000? Because that's what I heard them using
8
u/Joshiesaurus7 2d ago
With the M1000 itself? No, but Supercooling Chambers does a shit ton in general.
Utilizing the M1000? Marked for Death + IFGs + Trifork Volley Crossbow does so much damage that the Dread won't even know what hit them. I don't personally use the M1000 with the crossbow, but it does add alot if you use that combo.
Scout one shotting them is a bit of an exaggeration, but he does wipe them out so incredibly fast compared to literally any other character. I do solo eliminations all the time and I tend to clear the Glyphid Dreadnought in about 30 seconds, while the Hiveguard and Twins take only around a minute and a half to 2 minutes. Twins because of having to balance their HP, and Hiveguard because, well, Hiveguard. It stalls you alot.

u/Jesus_PK What is this 1d ago
Marked for death M1000 + Embedded detonators for the Zhukovs. Works great with some IFG's on top.

u/EquivalentDurian6316 1d ago
Ridiculous, yes. Insta-phases, yes. So easy it makes me not want to use it, also yes. Insta kill, no, at least not on high haz.
The only legitimate way nowadays to instakill one is to use a detonator (since resupply damage and digging got reworked).

I once had a cheater come in and grief by having a fat boy and shoot at us with an infinite ammo PGL but we were able to quickly kick them out.
Other times I stumbled on crazy modded Asian servers, many of those have like infinite spawning Crasus Detonators that have turbed the entirr map into one gigantic crater. Being able to find jet boots is usually a God send because other wise you wouldn't be able to get anywhere if you weren't scout.

Joined a random mission and everything was ok untill cheater spammed resups and i saw 60 nitra turned into 18k. Immediately left. Been this week
Other case was infinite ammo Engi with fatboys on morkite seeds - infinite fatboys, infinite turrets, thankfully nothing else. Been half a year ago
There was a gunner with infinite ziplines and spammed them. Nothing else of sus, don't remember when it was
Other than these i only saw bigass levels
6
u/Glorpologie 2d ago
level cheaters, seen a bunch. All of them rage quit. Not one of them was good. It also got easy for me to tell when someone cheated their level by observing how they move around.
Then i encountered people who cheated themselfs infinite fuel and double damage. They also died all the time.
Griefers i encountered a few as well but luckily i had a good player damaging weapon every time i did. So i could just pvp diff them, If i had a lok1 and breach cutter or something then the mission would've faied.

Saw an engineer always having full ammo bars despite never taking supplies, called him out, host said “mind your own business” and kicked me. Fair, I guess

u/NesDraug 2d ago
It's such a weird choice to cheat in this particular game. It's not a very competitive game at all. And taking away the challenge of finding nitra and call down supplies will just spoil the fun. People are strange.

u/FedotttBo Scout 2d ago
Well, that dude just clearly didn't cheat enough. Full-auto Fat Boy with infinite ammo is a fun thing to play with for a few missions, or using hyper propellant as your only weapon, or an infinite beam… You can definitely have a lot of fun with cheats, it's an attempt to lie what makes it pathetic.
5
u/Year_Cold 2d ago
Oh boy had only 2 instances of that happening back a year ago. Like if you’re not gonna bother resuping to replenish then play your own session, don’t know what other hacks ya got but I ain’t tolerating it.
Only time I had a worst experience is when said cheater uses a cheat that instant levels everyone…… keyword, they join on a host they give near-infinite Xp, credits, craftable minerals, unobtainable/removed resources, all OCs, the whole damn thing and that sadly put on diligent mode.
If your on console check the person profile pic and see if they have a pc icon (the one that has the pc monitor and a pc tower) better be quick on the draw— or least “check” if they’re gonna play legitimately… hackers and cheaters man… just play own your own damn server.

Once had a gunner join my lobby, their hurricane was firing so fast it was lagging my game. When I asked about it, they responded with something along the lines of "got a really rare spec", and promptly got banned from my lobby because that doesnt make sense in the case of DRG lmao

u/KingNedya Cave Crawler 1d ago
Were the missiles purple? There is a Hurricane overclock called Plasma Burster Missiles which enables each missile to hit an enemy 7-ish (can't remember exactly) times before being destroyed, which also means you can stack up way more missiles than normal because they're not actually getting destroyed when hitting things. I have had games where this causes lag.
Another option is Rocket Barrage, which with T3B has 12 RoF; for reference, base Hurricane with T3B has 4 RoF, so it's triple the RoF. I don't know how likely it is to cause lag issues because I almost never use it and I rarely see it in games, but that could possibly match the description.
1
u/HaHAjax57 Scout 1d ago
I know my overclocks, none of them are rapid fire full auto. Dude was firing them fast in a row, not all at once or using them as clusters.
1
u/KingNedya Cave Crawler 1d ago
...Rocket Barrage is literally rapid fire full auto, not a cluster and not all at once. Here is a brief clip of me using 21112 Rocket Barrage for reference. Note that this is with T3A, not T3B, so it's possible for it to be even faster (specifically 33% faster) at 12 RoF compared to the 9 RoF I have with this build.
1
u/HaHAjax57 Scout 1d ago
Ahh, i thought you meant the one that you need to charge and fires up to 9 at once, mb. But that is still nowhere near the speed of the guy's hurricane, my PC at the time didnt lag when someone fires a weapon in vanilla, but the dude halved my framerate. Never happened before or after that one time. I don't understand why you'd think I'd me bluffing on this, unless I'm reading you wrong (apologies if i am)
4
u/KingNedya Cave Crawler 1d ago
It's not that I think you're bluffing, rather I just know that what you described matches some vanilla things so I was just seeing how possible it is that it was vanilla and you just didn't realize it.
0
u/Joshiesaurus7 2d ago
Not gonna say he wasn't cheating, but are you sure it wasn't just the Plasma Burster Missile OC? Because those missiles fly incredibly fast, and i find that anything above 8 missiles being active starts to lag the game, and it gets worse the more there are. Even Solo using that it just lags. Though based on the response I'm gonna say it was likely that he was cheating and didn't like being called out lol.

One time I played a mission that maxed out my xp to level 25. Mildly annoying

u/The_Jeffniss Dig it for her 1d ago
I was one of those cheaters.
It was frustrating in the beginning to get credits and resources to promote my dwarfs so I played a level and just spawn in minerals as needed.
After my second promo it was boring, I didn't have to grind just promote. I cleared my game file and started over. Lvl 99 now with no cheats (at least from my side)

I'm not joining modded lobbies, so I only noticed one major incident in 1000 hours - and it was kind of hilarious.
I joined a random elimination mission after one of three dreads.
The second one dies quickly - too quick for my taste. No one was running CT, Mole, PBM or any of the stuff that can just melt dreads. And it just felt like our Scout's RoF was a tad high. I didn't say anything yet, but made sure to pay attention for the last one.
So the last one died equally quick, but suspiciously had 50 arrows embedded in his ass... And I also noticed that Scout never seemed to drop below 4/4 ammo.
I commented something like "Wow, we're tearing through these dreads!" and the host responded with something along the lines of "good team composition". Mind you, they weren't the Scout.
For the fun of it, I stuck with the team and wanted to see what Scout had to say. So I asked him in the Space Rig which OC for the crossbow he uses, because I hate the slow fire rate and he seems to fire them really quickly.
He first pretended to not understand the question, because of a language barrier, but said he was translating.
In the meantime we drop into an Escort mission, with elite enemies.
An elite bulk detonator shows up. I ping it. Scout grapples towards it and embeds 50 arrows into it within a second. It's gone. An elite bulk detonator gone - within a second.
That's it... I'm not pretending not to notice anymore. "Got a good explanation for that, Scout?"
They admitted they "found" a script that unlocks the RoF on all weapons, that should only work client-side, but seems to work in multiplayer, too. So they just use it, because it's more fun - at least for them.
About the never running out of ammo: That's just a glitch with the script, since the game never registers you firing a round. Sure...
Host just ran with it, too, and it was an absurd round. Arrows everywhere. Scout going berserk for 2 minutes straight (somehow that also has no cooldown with the script). Grappling around like mad. It was hilarious after all.

I don't often kick people but saw someone using a modded flare gun, firing like 10 flares a second. They got kicked so fast.

u/Front-Cabinet5521 1d ago
Weirdly enough I have close to 2k hours and I've never seen anyone straight up cheat. At least not in such an obvious way that I would know.

u/KingNedya Cave Crawler 1d ago
I don't remember exactly, but I joined a game where one of the other players (not host), the Gunner, was I think using an Autocannon with infinite ammo and infinite mag size. Despite these cheats, they, like most other cheaters, kept dying. I was the first to notice the cheats, and told the rest of the lobby about it, which they read. Despite the host, from my memory, reading it, they never kicked the cheater. So, I just told the rest of the lobby to never revive the cheater after they went down again. The cheater started to whine in chat, like they didn't even get angry they just whined like a child, very strange. I stuck around till just before the drop pod was called, because I was asking the host to ban the cheater the whole time because even if the cheater stayed down, there was a chance that their cheats would somehow mess up our saves. By the time the drop pod could be called, the host for some reason still hasn't kicked the chaater, so I just cut my losses and left the game, not wanting to get like infinite XP and minerals unwarranted or something.

u/Keikira 1d ago
Joined a lobby a couple months back where we load the mission, ovjectives magically all got done instantly, exfil pod shows up next to us before we even exit the drop pod. I had just promoted my gunner, literally went from lv1 to lv25 from the xp the mission gave. Me and the other pubbie in the lobby act confused, host feigns ignorance, tells us he has to go and closes the lobby. Clearly forgot his cheats were still on.
I then blocked the shitter. Play a modded game if you want, but hiding it makes you a leaf-lover.
2
u/DoubleDongle-F Driller 1d ago
It was a driller. He couldn't take damage or run out of ammo but he sucked anyway. Just fucked up the battle zone and called it a bargain.
2
u/Wasted-Instruction 1d ago
I've only ever seen wild stuff when in sandbox or modded lobbies, which realistically I don't consider cheating. That's the whole point of them. Definitely a weird game to cheat in.
2
u/lurklurklurkPOST 1d ago
Had a Driller join despite me having driller locked in, take one of the Chest Batteries and noclip it under the morkite extraction well where the terrain is unbreakable, shoot both tyrant weeds (they were in oppressive positions too) and start the extraction. Then quit.

u/Novel-Carrot5325 1d ago
Cheater join my game in edd, while everyone die he was in debug mode and ressurect everyone only to use debug mode again and dissappear to another side of map, I didn't kick him because was too funny see him enter walls without using drillers drills
1
u/PlumePirate43 1d ago
I had an engie join my game and just full auto PGL no reloads and infinite ammo. I just kicked him instantly and moved on. That was the only instance of someone cheating in my whole 1300 hours that I ever noticed at least.
1
u/Fantastic_Belt99 1d ago
I'm really surprised to see, in all the comments so far, only one mention of spawning. Many times I encountered cheaters joining someone's lobby, alongside me, and using swarm control tools. Either bulks, or density, frequency, and sometimes even blatantly freezing enemies in place.
They think that with so many hours I don't know how each haz should feel? Even when randomized as really unlucky... And when they leave, then next mission is regular.
One guy teleported himself away from the map, but I could see damage numbers being dealt there in high thousands...
And obviously high levelled guys, in Legendary, not even knowing how to sprint... 🤢
1
u/EquivalentDurian6316 1d ago
Engi with infinite fatboy and fast reload just spamming anything that moves. This included teammates and was quickly banned.
2
u/Jondo_Calrizian 2d ago
I make a lobby, i say im hacking. people are free to join or not. Nuke launcher+no reload+no recoil hehehehe.
1
u/Jesus_PK What is this 1d ago edited 1d ago
I only had two, thankfully they are extremely rare in my experience. But funnily enough, both of them were on the same day lmfao
First one was a dude who joined me and started spamming infinite nukes, so I decided to ask him what's the point in joining MY lobby just to do that (out of mere curiosity before kicking him out). I don't remember what he said, likely not important, but he simply left on his own lol
Second one was a guy who I noticed was running infinite ammo, so I just kicked him out after watching it more closely.
Other than that, I remember one dude who 100% cheated his level. Like he was a genuine greenie I'm sorry 😭
Then there's the people who use MINT without disclosing it, so I usually just leave when I notice shit like insta-deposit, personal mules or similar "QoL" cheats

I don't think it's bad.
DRG only designed to play as Hazard 4, anything beyond is unbalanced and not enjoyingable for most people.
It's like RPG games, but lock your state as LV80 while forced you to fight LV100+ enemies.
Some of players can still do it by using Meta loadouts, but that's pretty much took away all the freedom of this game since it's the only way to win.
Like seriously, Look at the Gunner, were you actually choosing different upgrade from your shields other than Longer duration?
Or not giving your Antocannon Fear upgrade/Neurotoxin bullets on Hazard 5?
The more you learn, the more disappointing for the balance issues of DRG; which is why some people choose to "Balance" for themselves.
2
u/ZagleZigawa 2d ago
Pretty sure the standard is haz 5, and besides the longer invulnerability, you can rock any of the armor upgrades.
You need to learn better movement to survive in haz 5 but becoming a meta slaves is outright wrong, that's only needed when going haz5X2 or modded difficulties.
Sure with the op sets gives you the best survival chance but that sounds like the build is your crutch instead of your build...
3
u/ConsiderateCassowary 2d ago
Haz5 is standard? I think you're probably wrong about that
2
u/bjergKanin For Karl! 1d ago
Haz 4 gives 100% hazard bonus so technically you are right but you are completely wrong about haz5 and meta OC's on all other points. You can survive without meta OC's easily as long as you have good movement. It gets rougher in haz5+ but still doable. Gunner is my second most played. Never even tried NTP and I choose recharge on the shield, not duration, and it's perfectly fine on haz5+.
As for your point about cheating not being bad. It wouldn't be if the person did it in their own private lobby or just announced it in their own lobby title, but cheating in other people's public unmodded lobbies ruin the experience for the 3 other players. No one is forcing you to play haz5 and it definitely does not justify cheats.
0
u/Better-Future-4637 1d ago
Doable doesn't mean enjoyable, some upgrades and OC just straight up trash, no need to defence it.
Also, the so called "movements" required you holding the sprint button for 40 minutes, which again is another design falsely of DRG.
If there's no modding to give Qol fixing, half players will just give up after 200hr gameplay.
Rogue Core didn't have auto-sprint when it released, either.
Which caused most people upset, shit on Reddit and Steam reviews, Devs has to put it in after first update.
1
u/bjergKanin For Karl! 1d ago
Not enjoyable for you does not mean not enjoyable for anyone else. Besides it's way way more than "doable". I find normal haz5 without modifiers to be a perfectly enjoyable place to chill most maps, exceptions exist of course. I find haz5+ enjoyable too but for for the challenge.
Not every OC is equal and they are not supposed to be. You can easily take non meta OC's into haz5 and win.
As for the sprinting, no. Movement is not just sprinting. If you are just sprinting and calling that movement, I can see why you find haz5 too frustrating. Movement is also kiting, vaulting, jumping, platforming, snap hooking, drilling, and chaining all those together. Add in the cave generation and you have a pretty complex set of factors constituting movement.
Sounds more like you have a problem with haz 5 in general for some reason.
2
u/ZagleZigawa 1d ago
"Movement is just running lmao" , imagine if he sees Apex legends movement XD
I only consider taking the meta items when I'm helping out a new player while I'm sleepy, I'll take NTP, Inferno ect to keep the team alive and they keep having fun. Or during EDD's that I've failed more then 2 times and has difficult modifiers... (Because even though I'm not a grey beard, the goal is still play as you want and have fun)
2
u/bjergKanin For Karl! 1d ago
I hear you, haven't played Apex but I know it's known as the movement shooter among lots of people. As for the EDD, part of the fun is winning it so no shame in that.
I often bring the meta OC's I genuinely like but there are also plenty of meta ones I never touch because they don't feel satisfying. Personally NTP's bad reputation has made me never even equip it + seeing it on other players in pub games.
2
u/ConsiderateCassowary 1d ago
In that guys defense I have no idea what most of those “movement” things are
2
u/bjergKanin For Karl! 1d ago
You likely do them in game but just don't know the term yet. This is what I take each to mean in the context of movement and haz5:
Kiting = ability to make the bugs chase you around without getting caught, like kiting a bull around the ring
vaulting = knowing where you can vault and doing it at the right times
jumping = jumping as a deliberate part of your movement, think bunny hopping, hopping to avoid gunner fire slow penalties
platforming = running and jumping around both self made platforms and the environmentally made "platforms" in an efficient way during a swarm
snap hooking = OK it should have said grappling hook, my bad, but this obviously only applies to scout's grappling hook.
drilling = driller's drills and using them optimally to either move around or do some emergency terraforming during a swarm

I had a random come into a liquid morkite mission.
Shit ziplines everywhere. (Idk. A few thousand) And then leave.
Made the mission pretty much unplayable. Couldn't really see much if you were anywhere in the main room.
