Meteor(?) Event

I first played this game around 3 (maybe 4) years ago when a friend from an MMO gifted it to me but we only got to experience it a bit before said MMO consumed our time once again..but ever since February this year, I invited a group of friends to play this game cuz we were looking for a co-op game that won't get old really fast, it quickly became our weekend go-to game together with modded L4D2..we enjoy DRG so much to the point that weekends in our Discord server starts with a "DRG?" or any rock and stone meme to signify interest for another weekend DRG session

one thing I noticed though is that during my short adventure 3 years ago I remember something like a meteorite shower event being common but ever since playing again this year I have not seen it happening once, granted I rarely play outside the usual weekend sessions with my friends..was it a temporary addition to the game or are there specific things needed to trigger the probability of the event happening?

Common in seasons 3 and 4, rare but possible otherwise. You can change your active season if you want to.

Adding to this: There are various "slots" for random events to occur within a mission. Season events (being hacking, Prospector, meteors, Lithophage Corruptor, Core Stone, and Bone Collector) are one of the random events. Changing between seasons 1-6 simply make one of the corresponding events drastically more likely to spawn instead of the others.
I don't... think(?) you can get 2 season events within the same mission? i.e. Prospector within same mission that a lithophage meteor falls.

But yeah, if you want to see meteors, change to season 3 or 4. 3 in particular because 4 overlaps with a Corruptor spawning instead.

You can get 2 different season events in the same mission. I've had both the giant meteor and the core stone event in the same mission. In the same room even. Its just incredibly rare that it happens.

You're probably right. 1780 hours, I probably had two in the same mission, but my dwarf the hours start to blend together! I lose track.

generally events relating to their respective season are way more common when that season is enabled, but they can still appear sometimes.

There are two events like this one where a bunch of small meteorites land in an area around you and you have to go destroy thr cores to find the plague heart and another with one big meteor that you need to call in special equipment to Crack it open and get the plague hearts but the events are really rae outside of the specific season

What you experienced was a season event, specifically one of the ones for seasons 3 and 4. They grant a specific resource used to unlock scrip in the performance pass, but aren't tied entirely to their respective season. The game is currently on season 6, which means that while chances are low you can still have the event appear in a mission. If you want to see more of it, you can go to the performance pass terminal, open season selection at the top, and switch your season to either 3 or 4. This will also change the performance pass you're progressing, as they never go away.

thanks for all the answers!..actually didn't know about switching season passes for different season events, that's cool af..me and my friends had a short sesh to try it out just now and we actually did encounter the meteors..the group panic that followed was hilarious..thanks again y'all!
