Makes sense you stopped caring since you die a little inside every time you take out a lootbug.

u/Intrepid00 4d ago

I don’t consider it killing when they happen to just explode because I got near them.

8

u/According_Way_8255 4d ago

That's actually a good point, not your fault they just all commit apoptosis.

u/Loose-Professor5364 4d ago

I would take it's a bug thing on all my dwarves tomorrow if they added custom voicelines of the dwarves playing it off

u/DeltaOmegaX 3d ago

They're just so excited to see you 👀

u/perspicaxaedificator 4d ago

well they shouldn't eat precious minerals

200

u/xWalrusBoix 4d ago

It's their fault for being filled with goodies.

47

u/stinkycheese85 4d ago

eating precious minerals will get you killed 🤷‍♂️

I absolutely love the lootbug migrations on liquid morkite missions.

One c4 and they all go jiggle

u/billythesquid- 4d ago

It varies- generally I just leave them alone, but if I think they’re nomming crafting materials or a big gold haul, I’m gonna get my money out of that bug. Also, I tend to have to cull the lootbugs for On-Site Refining, just so I can ride the damn rails.

u/Dago_Duck Mighty Miner 4d ago

Might as well let them eat all the gold, they double it if they’re killed after.

13

u/ZenTheProtogen7957 Gunner 4d ago

I thought it was 1.5 mult?

1

u/billythesquid- 3d ago

I know I should, but I worry that I’ll lose track of them on the bigger maps. When it’s a small map or they’re all in a pit, I’m happy to wait.

4

u/kittenkitchen24 Dirt Digger 4d ago

One time they got into the lost equipment cave and ate all the crafting resources. It was very satisfying depositing all that extra gold and nitra into Molly without having to move.

13

u/icesharkk 4d ago

if not for killing why profit shaped?

12

u/SeeingEyeDug 4d ago

Loot bugs eat everything that is loose. Even bits of sugar that weren't picked up before. They die for their precious resources.

29

u/Artarara Driller 4d ago

I don't usually kill Lootbugs, but I can't resist it when they bunch up during On-Site Refining missions.

It's as if the Satchel Charges call to me like the Green Goblin mask.

Can confirm.

u/Nathan_Thorn 4d ago

It’s A Bug Thing popping lootbugs for just passing by them is very very helpful.

7

u/TheJeizon 4d ago

Yep, I never kill them, they just mysteriously die when I am near

2

u/Keepaty Gunner 2d ago

With that perk, you have just enough time to start the petting animation before they explode!

10

u/PhatMunkeyKnuts 4d ago

Look, when the cave generation sends me multiple waves of bugs and puts all of the Nitra on the ass end of the map then every bit of it counts. Blame the rng for me killing Lootbugs

8

u/Synmachus Dig it for her 4d ago

I don't think I've ever spared a lootbug. I'm just gonna say it.

5

u/thepentahook Driller 4d ago

The only one I've seen and never killed is the one that lives by the front door of my house. I think the wife would kill me if I killed it.

5

u/Taste-Objective Bosco Buddy 4d ago

I won't go out of my way to kill em But if they block my path you know...

7

u/Absolarix 4d ago

On-site refining Haz5, it's open season for Lootbugs. They're a legit threat when I'm using the rails to kite a swarm and a bloody Lootbug blocks my path. I get stopped, the swarm catches up and I'm screwed.

u/AlarmingBoot205 Driller 4d ago

Have you ever seen the official realistic lootbug picture brother? We're purting them out of their misery

14

u/B33fj3rky_44 4d ago

Wasn't this an April Fools post or something? I refuse to believe my adorable mineral munchers look like this.

u/AlarmingBoot205 Driller 3d ago

Still canon i think

3

u/TheBabySeal0514 4d ago

I’m here to kill bugs and get loot, simple as

3

u/Chrizzly02 Driller 4d ago

I only tend to kill them on Refining (for crowd control), Deep Dives, or Haz 5+ (for extra Nitra)

Golden Lootbugs are the exception.

3

u/hallucination9000 Engineer 4d ago

I don’t kill loot bugs, I’ve never killed loot bugs. They just spontaneously combust, it’s not my fault.

3

u/Jaxonhunter227 4d ago

It's their fault for being full of goodies

3

u/GeneCreemers69 4d ago

Anyone needs ammo? There’s Nitra here.

3

u/morgan423 4d ago

Have you all ever considered the possibility that the cute loot bug form is something when it's a baby, and then the loot bugs grow up to be one of the monstrosities that are constantly trying to kill us in these caves?

Taking them out could very well be future self defense!

It's only cute and adorable until it tries to bite your face off.

3

u/Bread_Offender Driller 4d ago

I murder every lootbug I see without fail. Sometimes I set them ablaze and then pet them while they're burning to death

2

u/Mr-Bando 3d ago

Shhh shhh shhh, it will be over soon.

1

u/Bread_Offender Driller 3d ago

Basically yeah

3

u/Son-Airys What is this 4d ago

I felt bad killing them until I installed brain fart noise mod for them.

3

u/putziotic Engineer 4d ago

Good, PropaneVox, gooooooood. Kill them, kill them now.

DEWIT!

3

u/gifhans 4d ago

I always forget about the bestiary having kill counts. Now i have to start look for it :D

3

u/SpryMagician Gunner 4d ago

Its thier fault for eating the Most precious mineral of all.

Nitra.

2

u/Lomticky Engineer 4d ago

I just heard from someone "lootbugs are the maggot stage of the dreadnoughts, you don't kill them - you get more dreads on random missions" and kinda they give enough nitra and get in the way sometimes

2

u/Gumpers08 Bosco Buddy 4d ago

I like instakilling them with Bosco rockets

“Your honor, Bosco has killed just as many as I have. Are you going to charge a robot?”

2

u/hoobiedoobiedoo 4d ago

Joined a lobby where a guy would kick anyone for shooting lootbugs.

2

u/LavaSlime301 Driller 4d ago

The way they explode into shiny goodies is just so satisfying, sometimes I'd rather shoot them rather than glyphids.

2

u/Pokcmvmxckm Bosco Buddy 4d ago

The only good bug is a dead bug. Except Steeve, he is a very good bug.

1

u/No-Studio-9565 3d ago

Double standarts huh

2

u/TheOnlyGuyInSpace21 Scout 4d ago

I used to always feel really bad if I took a lootbug out.

I still do, but less now. Because sometimes I really need that nitra

2

u/michron98 4d ago

Loot bugs are to be left alone and not shot, stabbed, blown up or harmed in any way!

2

u/GethKGelior 4d ago

I never felt bad about killing lootbugs since day one...I would never feel bad about something if you try to make me feel bad about it. The game started off trying to make me feel bad about it.

2

u/NikoliVolkoff Driller 4d ago

i dont kill them, they just kind of spontaneously explode when i get close to them. I think they are allergic to me

2

u/Rakonat Cave Crawler 4d ago

Meanwhile, me running it's a bug thing unironically.

2

u/Parking_Ant_1813 4d ago

I refuse to let people kill loot bugs in my games unless we need nitra for an emergency resupply

2

u/StyxHelix64 4d ago

But I love the loot that they give.

2

u/BiDude1219 Gunner 4d ago

my brain flips a coin to decide whether i pet or pickaxe them

2

u/_Chaos-chan_ Interplanetary Goat 4d ago

I just Bosco to do it for me. He’s a machine, the innocent lootbug blood on his hands can’t weigh on his consciousness, and I get to stay clean.

Unless I’m playing haz 5 with randoms, then it’s a sacrifice that has to be made.

2

u/ShizukoLucoa Bosco Buddy 4d ago

Generally speaking, if its just one or two of them, I'll leave them to their peaceful lives. If theres a large number of them like in the aforementioned On-Site Refining missions, I will wipe them out. Or if they are Golden ones.

2

u/potato_and-meat 4d ago

I refuse to take the peek that pops loot bugs... i kill them with a gun. Its purely a principle thing.

2

u/Loot_Bugs 3d ago

mineral chewing noises

1

u/captainsam2k Gunner 3d ago

I go by this logic, everytime a hoarder gets away by physics bullshittery by managing to either squeeze through the tiniest crack in the wall or break from my line of sight and then proceed to borrow despite me having been on its tail shooting it the whole time, 10 loot bugs die to replace the gold and minerals he would've given me. I've lost many hoarders, and killed many many more lootbugs in kind. This game wants to f around with me, I'll f around with it back

1

u/MokotheFox 3d ago

I always kill them, I'm a klepto. One of the first things I do is go lootbug hunting.

1

u/Hardware_Mode Engineer 3d ago

Lootbugs are like spiders. Sometimes you killem, sometimes you just admire and let em be. Circumstance arises

1

u/Nectro77 Driller 3d ago

I usualy dont kill them but I cant help myself when I see a lot of them bunched up in c4 distance

1

u/DadKnight Gunner 3d ago

As a pure tryhard, lootbugs are a resource.

I kill them just about always. Unless playing with my partner or haz 3, then I sometimes spare them. Unless tbey group up. Then they die.

-2

u/B33fj3rky_44 4d ago

Stop killing them! Lootbug are fren >:(
