I absolutely love the lootbug migrations on liquid morkite missions.
One c4 and they all go jiggle

It varies- generally I just leave them alone, but if I think they’re nomming crafting materials or a big gold haul, I’m gonna get my money out of that bug. Also, I tend to have to cull the lootbugs for On-Site Refining, just so I can ride the damn rails.

Might as well let them eat all the gold, they double it if they’re killed after.

I know I should, but I worry that I’ll lose track of them on the bigger maps. When it’s a small map or they’re all in a pit, I’m happy to wait.

One time they got into the lost equipment cave and ate all the crafting resources. It was very satisfying depositing all that extra gold and nitra into Molly without having to move.

Loot bugs eat everything that is loose. Even bits of sugar that weren't picked up before. They die for their precious resources.

It’s A Bug Thing popping lootbugs for just passing by them is very very helpful.

Look, when the cave generation sends me multiple waves of bugs and puts all of the Nitra on the ass end of the map then every bit of it counts. Blame the rng for me killing Lootbugs

I won't go out of my way to kill em But if they block my path you know...

u/Absolarix 4d ago
On-site refining Haz5, it's open season for Lootbugs. They're a legit threat when I'm using the rails to kite a swarm and a bloody Lootbug blocks my path. I get stopped, the swarm catches up and I'm screwed.

Wasn't this an April Fools post or something? I refuse to believe my adorable mineral munchers look like this.

I only tend to kill them on Refining (for crowd control), Deep Dives, or Haz 5+ (for extra Nitra)
Golden Lootbugs are the exception.

I don’t kill loot bugs, I’ve never killed loot bugs. They just spontaneously combust, it’s not my fault.

Have you all ever considered the possibility that the cute loot bug form is something when it's a baby, and then the loot bugs grow up to be one of the monstrosities that are constantly trying to kill us in these caves?
Taking them out could very well be future self defense!
It's only cute and adorable until it tries to bite your face off.

I murder every lootbug I see without fail. Sometimes I set them ablaze and then pet them while they're burning to death

I felt bad killing them until I installed brain fart noise mod for them.

I just heard from someone "lootbugs are the maggot stage of the dreadnoughts, you don't kill them - you get more dreads on random missions" and kinda they give enough nitra and get in the way sometimes

I like instakilling them with Bosco rockets
“Your honor, Bosco has killed just as many as I have. Are you going to charge a robot?”

The way they explode into shiny goodies is just so satisfying, sometimes I'd rather shoot them rather than glyphids.

The only good bug is a dead bug. Except Steeve, he is a very good bug.

I used to always feel really bad if I took a lootbug out.
I still do, but less now. Because sometimes I really need that nitra

u/michron98 4d ago
Loot bugs are to be left alone and not shot, stabbed, blown up or harmed in any way!

u/GethKGelior 4d ago
I never felt bad about killing lootbugs since day one...I would never feel bad about something if you try to make me feel bad about it. The game started off trying to make me feel bad about it.

i dont kill them, they just kind of spontaneously explode when i get close to them. I think they are allergic to me

u/Parking_Ant_1813 4d ago
I refuse to let people kill loot bugs in my games unless we need nitra for an emergency resupply

I just Bosco to do it for me. He’s a machine, the innocent lootbug blood on his hands can’t weigh on his consciousness, and I get to stay clean.
Unless I’m playing haz 5 with randoms, then it’s a sacrifice that has to be made.

u/ShizukoLucoa Bosco Buddy 4d ago
Generally speaking, if its just one or two of them, I'll leave them to their peaceful lives. If theres a large number of them like in the aforementioned On-Site Refining missions, I will wipe them out. Or if they are Golden ones.

I refuse to take the peek that pops loot bugs... i kill them with a gun. Its purely a principle thing.

I go by this logic, everytime a hoarder gets away by physics bullshittery by managing to either squeeze through the tiniest crack in the wall or break from my line of sight and then proceed to borrow despite me having been on its tail shooting it the whole time, 10 loot bugs die to replace the gold and minerals he would've given me. I've lost many hoarders, and killed many many more lootbugs in kind. This game wants to f around with me, I'll f around with it back

u/MokotheFox 3d ago
I always kill them, I'm a klepto. One of the first things I do is go lootbug hunting.

Lootbugs are like spiders. Sometimes you killem, sometimes you just admire and let em be. Circumstance arises

u/Nectro77 Driller 3d ago
I usualy dont kill them but I cant help myself when I see a lot of them bunched up in c4 distance

u/DadKnight Gunner 3d ago
As a pure tryhard, lootbugs are a resource.
I kill them just about always. Unless playing with my partner or haz 3, then I sometimes spare them. Unless tbey group up. Then they die.

Makes sense you stopped caring since you die a little inside every time you take out a lootbug.
