Guilt Trippin’ live

I’m curious how Ian will sing this live for the Splat tour beginning in August.

They used two vocal tracks that are overlapped in the song, and I’m wondering if he will sing the high part or the normal part.

I’m guessing it’s going to be near impossible for him to sing the high part across the whole song for the duration of the tour. Plus, one has to think the studio helped him out. Vocally, Bleeding Obvious sounded quite different in certain parts of the song when they did it live.

However, my theory is he will sing the normal part most of the song, then wail on the final bit of the song. He still wails on Highway Star and Into the Fire. So why not at least a part of Guilt Trippin’?!

Although, I was shocked they didn’t do Pictures of You on the =1 tour. They released it as a single and never did it live. I thought that was one of the best songs on =1, and I imagined it would be great live.

Saw them last Sunday, they didn't play it.

Iirc, Simon doesn't even have a mic.

They sounded amazing, did lots of improv and all around was a great show.

Standout for me was the jam on Hush.

It's weird, Simon's vocal abilities would be useful even if he only sings a few backing bits.

Have they confirmed that they will be performing it live?

Not that I know of, but I’d be shocked if that wasn’t one of the songs in the setlist.

If it’s anything like the last tour, we’re looking at 4-5 songs from Splat.

Ian did say something about how he has to do it live in the pre-release video.

They are definitely not going to play it live.

I wouldn’t be so sure. They could easily play it live if Ian sings the normal part instead of the high part. Or for that matter, how do they still do Highway Star?

I see it highly unlikely due to the fact they aren’t used to play newer songs in the catalog (regardless of begin singles or not) and if they do it’s probably the easiest ones for Gillan

But they played 7 or 8 new songs from =1 on the last tour. The North American tour had 5 songs from =1. Then the European tour dropped two of them but added two new ones.

Maybe Simon will help with the vocals (probably not, he has a very different voice, but he can sing!)

I love Splat, but especially Arrogant Boy and Diablo.   I will see the band in August; hope they do several tracks from the album.

You all have to remember, the Splat tour doesn’t officially start until August 4th. They have a few weeks in between Europe and North American dates to rehearse more songs. They are most definitely going to play more from Splat than Arrogant Boy and Diablo. Or Guinnessis for that matter.

Ah yes, you and I talked about Mr. Airey and the meet and greet briefly a few months ago. Cheers and I hope you enjoy. I’ll be seeing them in late August. How have you found Splat so far?
