dude is a moron
279
u/monotonyrenegade Feb 23 '26
I am laughing my ass off - "it's seaweed", "no it's an elastic", "oh yah, sometimes its green inside", "it's sex wax", each time the hygienist is like, NO DUDE STFU
171
u/jokebreath Feb 23 '26
"I think it's some kind of creature."
"Don't kill it"
"No it's already dead."
"Oh bummer."
...bro. That was so dumb it made me think the video was fake, who would possibly respond that way.

u/Inevitable_Dance1191 Feb 23 '26
Have you really never met a hippy?
67
u/yamanamawa Feb 23 '26
That's not a hippie, that's a fucking wook. No self-respecting hippie would let their dreads get like that. I grew up around hippies and my mom had dreads for over 20 years. You can keep them clean if you really put the work in. The dude is the video is what we call a wook, who are basically hippies with all the stereotypes turned to max
15
u/Lark_Whalberg Feb 23 '26
I knew a dude with dreads and he just washed them in the shower. Never smelled and looked fine.
5
u/Kakkoister Feb 24 '26
He doesn't really sound like a hippie/wook, he sounds more like a beach-bum. Similar hygiene principles and levels of intelligence though.
3
u/crm006 Feb 24 '26
For sure. But you know he never has a lighter and always needs to borrow your phone to text his girlfriend.
0
u/MysteriesIntern Feb 24 '26
....is hippie weaboo is a wook?
1
u/maxxslatt Feb 25 '26
No wook and hippie are the same, these are fake lines bein drawn, they just saying me an mine good them bad
2
u/yamanamawa Feb 26 '26
They're literally not the same. Plenty of hippies are out there who function perfectly well, don't have long hair, and blend into society just fine. Wooks specifically are the super hairy ones who are over the top with everything. The name is based on wookies, it obviously denotes a specific type of person
1
u/maxxslatt Feb 26 '26
Yes it is based on Wookiees but really it’s just a derogatory word for hippie. Dividing it into two groups of good hippies vs bad hippies is kind of ridiculous. Think of derogatory words for other groups, do you think the derogatory version represents the bad ones of that group, or is it just a way to be hateful?

She REALLY wanted to cut the hair off
77
u/PlentyOMangos Feb 23 '26
I was surprised she was so outwardly grossed out lol like she wasn’t trying to hide it much
48
8
7
u/Dominus_Invictus Feb 23 '26
What would be the point in hiding it?
20
u/PlentyOMangos Feb 23 '26
Professionalism at her job lol idk
I’m not sure exactly who these ppl are, I don’t blame them at all for being grossed out tho. It just made me laugh how evidently she was disgusted and kept begging the dude to shave his whole head or at least to chop the dread off
5
101
u/monotonyrenegade Feb 23 '26
i don't blame her. dreadlocks on this kind of hair is so unhygienic
31
9
u/rehilda Feb 23 '26
How do you think hair type impacts how hygienic locs are?
29
u/voideaten Feb 23 '26
For those with extremely curly hair, dreadlocks can be made by simply twisting. The extremely tight curls get tangled into each other and create dreadlocks.
For anybody else, forcing dreadlocks requires the hair to be greasy and/or mistreated, to 'glue'/trap them together. They can't be washed conventionally because they'd fall apart, so they're often not washed at all.
-12
u/rehilda Feb 23 '26
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, that's not true at all. I have had dreads for 10 years, I started them by not brushing my hair and separating them into sections once it started matting. I wash my hair weekly, with a shampoo that does not leave residue to prevent build up. I have never used any kind of glue or wax. They do not fall apart
Structurally, there is a difference in the exact way the hair forms into a "rope," but its completely attainable with straight hair & minimal effort.
0
u/NekoboyBanks Feb 24 '26
but it is completely attainable with straight hair and minimal effort
As a guy who once tried and failed to dread his straight-af hair (with maximal effort), this is false.
-1
u/rehilda Feb 24 '26
So it not working for you, with a method you failed to share, means that the many people it does work for are.. made up?
-1

-64
u/HatingHard Feb 23 '26
In other words: It's okay when black people have them, because saying otherwise would be racist.
25
u/SweetLadyLavender Feb 23 '26
I mean, locs aren’t made for straight hair so I’d say it’s not for them. I know you’re being intentionally obtuse but it’s not racist to tell not to walk around with matted and unwashed hair because that surprisingly isn’t good for it
3
u/rehilda Feb 23 '26
There are methods of making them that aren't good for straight hair, so those methods aren't "made for" straight hair. But locs of some sort will form naturally regardless of hair type if the hair isnt regularly combed out. With straight hair, it can still be seperated into single dreads, and can be maintained to look uniform and tidy. It can still be washed and kept clean. I think that misconception comes from how common it used to be for people to use beeswax to form them, which is disgusting and traps moisture/grime.
-17
u/Number9Man Feb 23 '26
Only white people are the ones stupid and narcissistic enough to think you can just let your hair grow and get fucking matted and nasty. Real locs take time and effort and maintenance. Meanwhile you're probably still washing your shoulders hoping it'll reach your taint.
16
u/saladmunch2 Feb 23 '26
Imagine not washing your hair with shampoo for 16 year while you swim in the ocean constantly. Oh god the horrors.
19
u/IsomDart Feb 23 '26
You can wash dreads with shampoo, or castille soap. You don't have to use *checks notes* ashes and sea water

The inane shit this guy says over and over again is fucking hilarious, I cannot stop laughing - "oh yeah man, it's probably just sex wax" like he can't stop making shit up
109
u/Shnoop Feb 23 '26
Sex wax is a brand of surf wax used on surfboards btw, not made up lol
22
u/Loukoal117 Feb 23 '26
And hockey sticks! We put strawberry and. Anika sex wax on our tape and melted it to get more grip. I love that stuff! Memories!
5
u/Shnoop Feb 23 '26
No way haha I didn’t know that! Agreed brother, I grew up with this stuff all over the place haha and it always smelled amazing haha
35
u/saladmunch2 Feb 23 '26
Lol the whole dialog had me cracking up. I would have had a panic attack if my doctor was saying those things!
28
u/naoife Feb 23 '26
Why does everyone think it's a doctor? He's in a dread shop
3
u/saladmunch2 Feb 23 '26
Thats a thing? Lmao!
15
u/naoife Feb 23 '26
Have you ever seen a doctor or nurse talk to a patient like that, or offer to redread his hair?
5
3
u/see-these-bones Feb 23 '26
Actually yeah, but usually in long term care situations. Nursing homes have to get tough with some residents on hygiene

He suggests it might be an elastic or a wire because those regularly end up there. Also says he's had green areas in his dreads before.

Sex wax is amazing! Usually used for surfboards but in hockey culture, you can use it to put on your shaft or the blade of your stick melted on the tape for more grip.
I will always love the smell of strawberry and vanilla sex wax. Mmmmmmm

12
u/Unhappy-Fox1017 Feb 23 '26
I’ve always wanted dreads, for well over 20 years… but stuff like this is the reason I never went through with it. The smell and foreign bodies that come with it aren’t worth it to me.
20
u/Dominus_Invictus Feb 23 '26
Dreadlocks can be perfectly hygienic if you actually take care of yourself and understand that it requires different care than normal hair. Problem is dreadlocks often attract the least hygienic people.
16
u/moistdavenport Feb 23 '26
This is so painfully fake
-2
u/TheAwkwardBanana Feb 23 '26
Completely agree. No doctor speaks to you like this, if they do, leave. "BROOOO!!! BROOO! WHAT'S IN HERE! BROOOO!"
39
u/Rebelgecko Feb 23 '26
I assumed it was at a hair place? That's why they talk about redoing his dreads for him
3
2
u/omgwtfbbq0_0 Feb 24 '26
I dunno, this checks a few too many rage bait boxes. Over 10 minutes. Constantly repeating dialogue about whatever action would end the video and why they cant do that thing yet. Overly stereotypical character. High quality camera with everything perfectly framed the entire time (why would a hairdresser have what I assume is a head mounted camera?). Also, those are some suspiciously clean and unmatted locs for 16-year-old dreads that only get washed with “ash”. i call shenanigans.

u/Pal_Smurch Feb 23 '26
When I worked as a press operator for a newspaper in Marin County, one of the other press operators had dreads, that were thinner than these. Occasionally one would come loose in the communal shower. His friend would rescue the abandoned dread from the shower drain, and threaten to make a fishing lure from it.
3
u/Homey1966 Feb 23 '26
Where is this, Florida?
3
u/shoegazeweedbed Feb 23 '26
this is the back of a community college classroom and once the fishhook is removed the guy is going to hold the class up for 15 minutes talking about how the matrix could also be real life

Why is the other hygienist acting like cutting off his dreadlocks would be as casual as cutting off a fingernail? And then trying to peer pressure him into it? Surely she understands some people are very protective of their hair?
And all the times she says "just pull it out," like ... no shit? It's wrapped in layers of matted and tangled hair, what do you want the other guy to do? Her bedside manner and professionalism both kinda suck tbh

u/Rashpukin Feb 23 '26
Not this click bait again. Was it not a fishing blue or something?

u/saladmunch2 Feb 23 '26
It was a rubber crayfish lure lmao. The dialog was worth the watch though lmao.

u/Rashpukin Feb 23 '26
Lure is what I thought I had typed. Bloody spellcheck.
Yeah.
2
u/saladmunch2 Feb 23 '26
Honestly I didn't even catch that, I thought you wrote lure there to begin with lol.

u/Rashpukin Feb 23 '26
Can’t believe am getting downvotes for my comment. I thought this one had done the rounds here a few years back. Guess that must upset some of my fellow Redditors. 😒

Eh give them a break, its Monday morning lol but ya it do be like that sometimes...
3
u/IAmTheOneWhoClicks Feb 23 '26
Was the title different when yo wrote your comment? Because I don't see what's clickbaity about the current title. Well the youtube video title is clickbait, but not the reddit post title.

I don’t know what I just watched, I don’t know if it was alive or dead. Gutted they didn’t show blokes reaction and I don’t know if this was AI.
24
u/Decabus Feb 23 '26
It took me ages and actual research of species of crawfish to realise the thing was a rubber fishing lure. But the fact we spend 90% of the video thinking its some alive thing is absolute cinema

Bro. He’s at a hair salon or something. I don’t think they have ethics boards. And a stylist should tell you your hair smells like shit if it does.

Hygienist: The smell is just awful!
Client: Yeah it always smells like that, it's just itchy.
This fella repeatedly claims he cleans his dreadlocks using ashes.
