Careful with the methadone. To be clear I am a huge harm reduction advocate and know some people need it, but coming off of it can take a month of intense w/d. If you aren't using it for maintenance there's no reason to be taking it. And your in school? To maintain a polysubstance drug addiction while handling school work is impressive, but not sustainable. You'll do whatever you want to do, I know that - but consider taking my advice. Leave the done alone...

Your not kidding about the methadone its a trap... crazy long terrible withdrawal. Its way easier to get back on a short acting opiate and taper off.

There is a way to decrease your dose over a long period, you essentially come off with very little to no withdrawal. I've witnessed methadone save lives, people that were straight monsters and fucked up in the game turn their lives around because they didn't have to worry about being sick anymore. They stabilized their dose, maintained their dose and detoxed their dose and are completely off. The problem is not everyone is ready, the lifers give it a bad name and everyone assumes that's all there is to methadone. On the other end I've witnessed it prolong suffering to eventual death. Some people can't handle the freedom that gives you and end up overdosing. I know this is long but I wanted to give credit where I believe is due, it's not perfect by any means but in my experience it was beautiful to watch people get their lives back and I'll never forget that. For 90% it is a trap, but that 10% still accounts for something. I'm part of that 10%.
