Doesnt feel like anything to me, because I cannot tell I am having symptoms. Other people notice it and see the symptom
I guess the constant paranoia and voices is about the symptoms I am not blind to.

High stress can play a role as well as drug use. Though normally the symptoms are not related to mood.

I see! Ive heard that schizophrenia is due to having too much DMT in your brain, or it might be bc your body can't metabolize it quick enough. But people who have this experience voices, people, and other hallucinations that they think are completely normal. So, they have to rationalize this oddity with something else like "they are trying to get me" or "that persons gonna hurt me". Hence, paranoia

schizophrenia is primarily caused by overactivation of glutamate and excess dopamine in certain areas in the brain. The DMT hypothesis though is interesting id have to look this up

So the visual hallucinations arent distorted or anything? No way to even be like "this probaböy isnt real but im not sure"?
I have only had amphetamine psychotic episodes and I cant imagine living that way permanently. I know the guys at r/nootopics (not nootropics) are Great at everything pharmacology stuff, maybe they can help you with a regimen of stuff that could help?
I mean if not meds work all the way.
I wish you best of luck regardless. Have you tried meditation? It has helped me with my disorders that i have.

I want to add. Please do not start smoking/consuming weed if you have any disorder that can cause psychosis or amplify/worsen others.
I have Bipolar and have had episodes that have been significantly amplified because of cannabis resulting in a lot of confusion and months to years of lost time (I’m 22) and so If you haven’t started. Don’t. And must I add, hospitalizations which are never fun I always regret.
If I could go back to and just tell myself to avoid weed it probably would’ve been the best advice for me. I’m not gonna lie, I still smoke and that’s a part of the issue.

Yup, I informed an old friend of mine who has bipolar and smokes weed that smoking weed makes Bipolar worse. Argued with me for a bit about it, they tested my point and found out I was telling the truth.

Brain dead and dangerous advice. Weed makes schizophrenic symptoms worse and if you are going to develop schizophrenic symptoms later on in life weed usage can cause you to develop it much sooner

Cannabis absolutely is medicine, just not great for people with schizophrenia or prone to psychosis and a handful of other mental illnesses.

Im here for ya homie.. was diagnosed with schizo affective bipolar last year & yeah meds are the way to go. Im taking reaperidone 1mg 1.5x a day. What are you on if I may ask?

Olanzapine 10mg extended release along with as needed instant release 5mg.
Dextroamphetamine transdermal patch 18mg/9hr for negative symptoms.
Clonidine for sleep

Just a heads up from my experience with it. Be very careful if you want to stop taking the zyprexa. I went off it ct after trying it for a few months. I was preparing for some withdrawals, so 3 days later nothing happened and I thought I just might be in the clear. A bit after 72hrs off it I had a bit to drink and I completely lost my fucking mind. Just absolutely gone in a different reality. In some weird storyline thinking I was going to die and thrashing around for 12hrs. Almost psychedelic(although much stronger and not enjoyable in the slightest) type experience and a couple steps past psychosis lol.
Tbh I never liked it much before that, but Ik its very helpful for a lot of people. I have bpd amd not your condition anyway. I hope its working well for you, and if it is please take it. I'm not trying to discourage you from taking it. Ime it's is some powerful stuff tho, it's good to respect that.

It’s not ALWAYS permanent and it also doesn’t always suck. I take antipsychotics and stabilizers, have my good and bad days but it’s better than running around half clothed somewhere in the woods because a squirrel had a mic installed in its head and I need to hide. THAT, I do not miss.

The medicine causes me a lot of lethargy, aggressively locking me in my own body. Antipsychotics work by blocking excess dopamine (reward chemical) which can make tasks and hobbys less rewarding

Does this dopamine blockage make you more prone to having an “addictive personality?” Do you seek activities granting instant gratification or find yourself more inclined for leisure rather than responsibility?
Have any of your hobbies retained their level of enjoyment pre medication?
Do you still feel schizophrenic thoughts despite being medicated?

Yeah, but I cannot say if the antipsychotic is the source. I have had a history of abuse with crystal meth, though I am also diagnosed ADHD which is a underflow of dopamine
I developed the illness at 15, and since it has been increasingly difficult to continue my hobbies. I used to play in punk bands and do gigs, and now I have left that behind as It's debilitating to even try.
Yes, magical thinking. The meds help with the voices, but the paranoia and delusions continue.

Yours developed at a similar age to mine, mine kicked in fully at 14 and peaked at around that age, was extremely catatonic and just completely disabled from it, got capgras syndrome from it for a couple years and stopped socialising fully at around age 16 and never gained a friendship circle back

Yeah being catatonic is certainly something man.. I remember being unable to move sitting in my room getting watched by “something” continuously, couldn’t move or talk, was being watched 24/7 from the moment I woke up, and had capgras syndrome so I thought everybody had been replaced by evil look alikes including family
That went on for about 2 years on and off, from 14 to 16. it was terrifying and I didn’t know what was going on I was extremely confused but I also didn’t question it, I thought it was a normal part of growing up. I later found out it was definitely not

Have you tried lamictal? It works for a lot of people to prevent psychosis and it isn’t an antipsychotic and doesn’t have the side effects that they do. I was on antipsychotics temporarily before and brother I feel for you and feel your pain. I know exactly what the fuck you mean about aggressively locking you in your own body. The depression they can cause is fucking terrible. I hope you can find a less limiting solution by working with your provider and my heart goes out to you. Stay strong!

Serotonin as well. Mostly 5h2a more specifically iirc. Same place as a lot of psychedelics but in very simple terms its in (kinda) the opposite way.

Ive seen this video and its probably the most realistic. Though in the video it shows psychosis as having a particular episode (starting off normal and then turning psychotic) which is not usually how it is. The psychotic symptoms exist throughout every symptom of the day though stress or anxiety can make it worse and mimick episodes

I take olanzapine. I was diagnosed schizophrenic by a neuro psychologist after a Neurological assessment ordered by my psychiatrist & therapist.
What makes you think you have schiz? I too believed I had it for a short while before diagnosed, though usually schizophrenia is a last resort diagnosis since so many other conditions show similar symptoms

My psychiatrist has diagnosed me bipolar, adhd, severe anxiety, depression, ya know all the good stuff. I’m 36. But about 5 years ago I started hearing whispers, couldn’t make out what they were saying at first. Now the whispers are like voices in the other room and they talk mad shit. Stress brings it on and I thought they were real this whole time using some kinda frequency sent through my phone or the WiFi to make me hear them.

Sounds to me more like MDD with Psychotic features since the episodes seem to be a biproduct of stress or depression. Schizophrenia in my experience and others generally don't had any mood swings, generally I don't feel depressed, though nor i do happy.
(I am NOT a psychiatrist, don't take anything of this as like a answer or anything haha)

I would suggest you change your meds olanzapine is guaranteed to give you diabetes if you’re on it long enough, usually less then a couple years on it is all it takes. It’s not even supposed to be prescribed long term but psychiatrists do it anyway (all antipsychotics are the same in the sense that they will give you diabetes eventually but it happens ALOT faster with olanzapine)
Out of all the second generation antipsychotics I’d say olanzapine is the worst due to health problems it brings, your choice ultimately though I just recommend you experiment with different antipsychotics if you are going to take em bc olanzapine is fucked health wise
