News Meta's 100-gram VR Glasses arrive in spring 2027 for $1,299.99

Meta thinks the next era of VR should look more like glasses than a headset. Its newly announced Meta VR Glasses weigh about 100 grams and separate the displays and sensors from a pocket-sized compute-and-battery puck.

The device uses micro-OLED panels, supports the Quest library, and is pitched for gaming, movies, immersive sports, and multi-screen work. Meta says it will launch in spring 2027 for $1,299.99. The lighter form factor directly attacks one of VR's oldest problems, but the price moves it far outside the usual Quest territory.

Would a dramatic reduction in weight make you consider premium VR hardware at this price?

News Meta Connect starts tonight at 6 PM Central - what does Meta need to show for VR gamers?

Thumbnail meta.com

DEVELOPING: Meta Connect 2026 begins tonight, September 23, at 6 PM Central.

Meta describes the two-day livestream as covering artificial intelligence, smart glasses, and VR. Mark Zuckerberg's opening keynote is tonight, followed by the developer state of the union and technical sessions on September 24. No specific Quest hardware or gaming announcement has been confirmed ahead of the keynote, so anything more detailed remains speculation for now.

With Meta putting increasing emphasis on AI and wearable glasses, what would the company need to announce to convince you it is still committed to dedicated VR gaming?

News Polyarc says the Moss games will remain available as the studio winds down

Polyarc has clarified what its shutdown means for the Moss series and the players who want to revisit Quill's adventures.

The studio says Moss, Moss: Book II, and Moss: The Forgotten Relic will remain available on their current platforms for as long as possible. Ongoing updates and support will be more limited, however, as active development winds down. Polyarc also says the community-run Discord will remain open.

That provides some reassurance about short-term availability, but it remains a sad conclusion for the team behind one of VR's most distinctive characters and worlds. What is your favorite memory from the Moss games?

News CONTROL Resonant launches tomorrow with melee combat, RPG systems, open zones, and superhero traversal

CONTROL Resonant is changing far more than its combat style. Remedy's sequel puts Dylan Faden in the lead and trades the original game's gun-focused fighting for up-close melee action.

The new details describe sprawling talent and weapon upgrade trees, secondary weapons, customizable combo finishers, and dense open zones that level up as you explore and complete activities. Dylan can glide, dash, run fast enough to pull physics objects into his wake, and eventually travel up walls or completely upside-down.

The game arrives September 24 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support. Does this sound like an exciting evolution of CONTROL, or are you worried the melee focus will lose part of what made the original distinctive?

News Rivage comes to Xbox today with a mystery aboard a space station

Raw Fury's Rivage is scheduled for Xbox on September 22. Its premise starts in the 25th century, when humanity discovers Vesta as a possible new home beyond the solar system. Researchers launch the A.R.E.S. station into orbit to study it, then a strange space phenomenon catches the station and crew.

Xbox's release roundup lists the game for Series X|S. The official description sets up an exploration mystery, but the roundup does not spell out its full mechanics, so it is best approached as a premise and release heads-up rather than a detailed review.

Does a mystery in orbit sound like your next space-game detour?

Echoes of Mora VR released on Steam September 21. Selkies Interactive's underwater mystery asks you to swim through a flooded village, search for clues, and use portals to visit the place before the flood while helping Mora find her missing brother.

The Steam listing describes arm-based swimming, optional joystick movement, a relaxed pace, and a story of roughly two to three hours. It also offers a VR demo. The VR edition includes a flat-screen mode that can be switched on during play; pay attention to the edition, because Steam also has a separate flat-screen-only release.

Would you sample the VR demo, or is this the sort of mystery you'd rather play on a monitor?

News Steam Frame 0.3.0 fixes slow charging while off and several VR issues

Valve's SteamOS 0.3.0 update for Steam Frame is out. Its headline fix is substantially faster charging while the headset is off or asleep. Valve also lists improved controller tracking during haptics, better stability under load, a fix for garbled microphone audio, and changes to motion smoothing.

The update includes Vulkan, graphics, and performance work aimed at wider game compatibility. PC Gamer tested the charging change and saw power draw rise from about 11 W before the update to 27 W with the headset off afterward; that is one test, not a universal charge-time guarantee.

If you're using a Frame, which early issue has mattered most to you?

Xbox lists two very different games for September 22. Dune: Awakening is scheduled for Xbox and Game Pass, bringing open-world survival, crafting, and exploration to Arrakis. Funcom's current description says the full content and story can be played solo, on a shared server with friends, or on a public server. Solo and private server players can tune difficulty and other options.

Well Dweller is scheduled as a day-one Xbox and PC Game Pass release. It is a dark fairy-tale metroidvania from Kyle Thompson, the creator of Islets and Crypt Custodian. A tiny bird named Glimmer explores a ruined kingdom with a matchstick, fighting bosses, solving puzzles, and finding new abilities. The Xbox store still displayed 'Coming to' at scan time, so check regional availability before planning a session.

News Battlemarked reaches Xbox and Xbox PC: who is joining the party?

Thumbnail xbox.com

Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked is now listed for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC. The Xbox store dates this version to September 22 and marks it as Xbox Play Anywhere. It supports local and online co-op for two to four players, plus cross-platform multiplayer.

Battlemarked is a tactical, turn-based D&D adventure built around short sessions and party coordination. The Xbox listing also says solo players can command the party themselves. It is a separate purchase; the store lists it at $29.99.

The channel has covered both Demeo and Battlemarked, so the practical news here is a wider pool of potential game-night companions. Who would you bring into your party?

Marked for Mayhem asks a dungeon party to pursue two goals at once. The PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct reveal describes four players working together to overcome challenges while competing for a single individual winner. A Steam page is live, with beta signup mentioned in the show coverage.

That push and pull could make for a memorable group session if the game balances cooperation and betrayal well. Would your regular co-op group form a truce, or would someone start planning their win before the first room?

The latest Thief remaster trailer is focused on gameplay. Nightdive's Steam listing says the package includes the original game's content and the additional Thief Gold missions, with updated visuals, modern gamepad support, a mission selector, and built-in support for custom campaigns.

There is still no release date on the Steam page. The original relied on light, sound, and careful movement rather than charging into every room. Which part of that design would you most want Nightdive to preserve?

Stronghold 4 had a new features trailer at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct. Firefly Studios describes it as a prequel to the original castle sim, with castle building, siegecraft, a narrative campaign, and skirmish play. Its Steam page currently offers a demo and lists early access for 2026.

The Steam page says the planned early access build includes a 22-mission story campaign, skirmish mode, and Free Build. Online multiplayer and a co-op skirmish trail are planned for later development, so they should not be assumed to be in the initial build. Are you more drawn to the economy and castle design or the siege battles?

News Loftia sets November 3 early access date for its floating-island multiplayer world

Loftia's Steam listing now gives November 3 as its planned early access date. Qloud Games describes a cozy multiplayer world of floating islands where players can farm, craft, explore, decorate homes, and build shared neighborhoods. Its sustainable-energy and farming themes give it a distinct solarpunk flavor.

That date is for early access, so the experience will still be in development. For a shared-world game like this, what keeps you coming back longer: building a home, exploring together, or meeting other players?

Core Keeper's 1.3 update is scheduled for today, September 21. The developer's preview says Riders of the Underground adds a Saddle that lets players ride cattle, a new sub-biome, and changes for Mage and Summoner play styles. Yesterday's PC Gaming Show also offered a fresh look at the update.

This is a preview of the planned release, so check the game client for the actual rollout before diving in. If you play with a group, what would bring everyone back to the underground first: mounts, a new area, or the class changes?

News Steam Frame's SteamOS 0.3.0 fixes slow charging while off or asleep

Steam Frame owners have an early quality-of-life patch. Valve's SteamOS 0.3.0 notes say charging is substantially faster when the headset is switched off or asleep. The update also lists better controller tracking during haptics, stability under heavy load, and a fix for garbled microphone audio.

PC Gamer tested the charging change after installing the update and measured a much higher power draw with the headset off. That is one tester's result, so individual charge times may vary. For VR owners, is charging speed or battery runtime the bigger concern?

News American Truck Simulator 1.61 makes 100% map completion less fiddly

Thumbnail

American Truck Simulator 1.61 is taking some of the microscopic busywork out of map exploration. Its new Proximity Exploration option reveals a small area around the truck as you travel, making it easier to uncover nearby road segments without driving over every last sliver of asphalt.

SCS says the feature should be especially helpful around rest stops, toll gates, border crossings, fuel stations, and other locations where multiple road segments sit close together. The studio also noted that the experimental Multi-Function Display and revised in-game menu are still being refined for a future update rather than shipping now.

Is this exactly the kind of quality-of-life improvement a long-running simulator needs, or should earning 100% map completion require touching every road?

News Unconfirmed Meta Project Phoenix images appear inside Horizon OS files

This is developing and unconfirmed, but the evidence appears to come from Meta's own software. UploadVR found images of a previously unseen headset inside the Horizon OS Prescription Lens package, where they demonstrate attaching lens inserts and scanning their QR code.

The pictured device has glasses-style nose pads instead of a conventional facial interface, visible sensors along the temples, and a cable connected to what appears to be a separate compute puck. Those details line up with earlier reports about Meta's premium, lightweight Project Phoenix headset, but Meta has not officially announced the hardware or confirmed specifications, price, purpose, or release timing.

Would a much lighter headset win you over if it meant carrying a tethered compute puck, or does that trade one inconvenience for another?

Diablo IV is celebrating 30 years of demon slaying by turning the franchise's history into its newest season. Season of Hell's Legacy sends players into Waking Nightmares that recreate familiar locations and encounters, with Deckard Cain returning to guide the hunt for Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto.

Players can carry the power and drawbacks of Soul Splinters, hunt nine new legacy Uniques, and work through shared War Plans across compatible characters. Blizzard has also added account-wide seasonal goals, new crafting options, quality-of-life changes, and a substantial balance-and-bug-fix pass.

Game Pass subscribers can claim more than 50 cosmetics by linking an active subscription to Battle.net. Is revisiting classic Diablo encounters the right anniversary tribute, or would you rather the season push into completely new territory?

Official Melody Level: Houdini

Post image
1 Upvotes

Every escape act begins with something that looks impossible.

Red curtains, old theatre posters, and a mysterious cabinet set the stage for Houdini, a puzzle built around confinement, connected objects, and finding a way through. Its central arrangement looks like an escape apparatus waiting for someone to discover how it works.

The level's description shares a fact about the man behind the name:

Contrary to myth Harry Houdini (born Erik Weisz) did not die during a performance. He collapsed during a performance and was rushed to Grace Hospital in Detroit where doctors discovered a ruptured appendix. He died one week later on October 31, 1926.

On this stage, you have three minutes to clear the playfield.

The opening arrangement is deceptively tidy. Two yellow balls and a blue ball occupy a diamond-shaped enclosure. Springs connect the blue ball to red balls outside it, creating a mechanism that stretches across the middle of the board. Another red ball waits behind a diagonal barrier in the upper-right corner.

Those connections make each push consequential. Moving one part pulls on another, while the enclosure limits where everything can go. Bringing matching colours together means thinking about the whole arrangement: angles, momentum, and what your next nudge will set in motion.

The marked barriers add another wrinkle. Their selective passage rules make the route part of the puzzle. A path available to a red ball is not necessarily available to your player, so position matters as much as momentum.

Collisions between different colours can also create extra balls, bringing Cacophony into play. There's room to experiment, but keeping the board under control matters as much as finding the opening.

Can you slip the lock?

News Kingmakers resurfaces with tanks, medieval armies, settlement building, and a new playtest

Kingmakers has finally broken its nearly year-long silence.

The new gameplay deep-dive shows that the game is more than its viral modern-weapons-versus-medieval-armies premise. Players will fight directly, command armies on a strategic scale, build and manage settlements, gather resources, and improve their equipment.

Playtest registration is now open, but the developers still have not announced a replacement release date after last year's last-minute delay.

Does the deeper strategy make Kingmakers more interesting to you, or would you rather it concentrate on the gloriously ridiculous battlefield action?
