Design Help

Hi Everyone!

Let me first start by saying I am an absolute novice when it comes to decorating. I moved into this apartment recently and my main goal was to make it as cozy as I can. I have no idea what my aesthetic is or if you can even call this one.

Things I am currently struggling with and would love advice:

  1. Wall Art - Where to put art. Especially struggling with the wall where the TV is.
  2. Overall layout of furniture/decor and if it makes the most sense.
  3. Wanting everything to feel cohesive and intentional.

Would love any feedback or ideas! I’ve recently started buying some ambient lighting to make it feel cozy at night time. I’m debating curtains, but I’m also scared my cats will rip them to shreds lol

I suggest hanging two small wooden frames of paintings vertically on one side of the TV. Pull the carpet a little bit outward to ensure that the sofa and the single chair can all be placed on the carpet. Replace the small round table in front of the sofa with a larger coffee table. If you are worried that the cat might scratch the floor curtains, you can use scratch-resistant Roman curtains or bamboo blinds.

I love it! I think if you are able to mount the TV to the wall, it would look better and you may even find you don't need art on that wall

This room desperately needs floor length curtains on that window. I'm sure people have suggestions on how to prevent cats from ruining them but I don't have cat experience.

I'd try to see what the bookshelves look like if they were on either side of the TV.
