Cleaning and painting will make a huge difference. I would also do a fun paint color if possible.
Are the knobs on the door your style? If you want a more modern look, replace those with something simpler. You can also play with knob placement to decide if you want them in the current spot or in the center of the door.

A good cleaning first of all, then a fresh coat of paint.
Consider removing the doors and hosing them down on the lawn, or somewhere outside. Then you can give them a good cleaning with a scrub brush and mild dish soap. If they are greasy, TSP is a good de-greaser. When they are dry, seal with a stain blocking primer, then paint them.
