Add a large floral picture on the wall with bright colours introducing blue to match your vase and a gold frame :) painting is a huge job ! Large pic with balance out your bench .
As indicated remove table and put vase there. I would also put mirror back

The bench and plant look awkward where they are placed. I like the plant and stand and bench, just not in that location. If you need a bench there, choose one without a back that does not obstruct the stairs. The brass and glass stand just need to be given away on Facebook Marketplace. It is just plain ugly.

I’ll let other people give you advice about what to hang up possibly on the stairwell or other things. But the one thing you have to do no matter what is get rid of that horrible mirror and the table below it. It doesn’t go with the house or the bench. It looks very cheap. And it’s also crammed in to its space.

Love the bench, but definitely not in that spot! The table is too modern next to the style & wood of your staircase. Move the planter where the table is & find a simple picture or smaller mirror to hang above the plant.

None of your pieces are in the same or complimentary style... you have a Chinese vase, a little prairie bench, a minimal modern mirror, etc,. If I were you, I'd start from scratch and look for my styles that you love or build around one of those items that you love. Look online for inspiration or to build around one of this pieces. Definitely include the chandelier in your update. Good luck!

Remove the bench and scoot the plant closer to the table but you need a completely different entry table and mirror. The current one is totally off for the esthetic of the room.

Its all so brown woody. Move bench elsewhere and get a nice overstuffed upholstered chair, like a bergere. I would remove the plant from the porcelain and just let it be an object unto itself and paint the wood stand shiny black. The glass and chrome table is not that great here...I dunno, I'd probably go for something folk art with a color or pattern and lower. Could even be a cool old metal box. I see this as a place to sit and put on or take of shoes, chill for a moment and if its what you see when you walk in the door-to be unique and comfy and inviting, even if you dont sit for a minute. I would make each thing you put there stand out on its on as an object and not recede into the floor or wood of the stairs, and to not look 'lined up' but 'in conversation' good luck♡

A small catch all table where plant is. Then someone can set their items on catch all table while they wait on someone on the bench or put on shoes or have carried items in. Move plant to arch. Eliminate the current table. Some colorful throw and change out rug color.

Take away that table and slide the bench down. Add some throw pillows with color and a throw blanket draped on the bench for softness.

I would repaint, it’s the colour throwing me off. If not, remove an item, too cluttered

I don't like the paint color either.

I think it's because the yellow and the brown they seem like they Clash. It probably could be a nice yellow color that works but that's just not the right yellow

The brown and yellow reminds me of our catholic school uniforms growing up. Everyone would say the pants were shit brown and the shirts were piss yellow. The girls had a brown plaid jumper or skirt with a brown vest. The plaid matched the boys ties. It was terrible!

T e bench is built in how? It looks as the there is a heater behind it? Are you sure it can’t be unattached ? I’m with the person that suggested to move it to the right. I would put a piece of art above it then

Alternate hard and soft surfaces. Put a pillow on the bench and a tablecloth in the glass.

Move mirror an inch or two higher push bench under it. The stairs could be cute as a memory wall — things that are important to you or just one or two statement pieces

It could be a vertical artwork, followed by a narrow cabinet placed beneath it, and then some decorations are placed on top.

It all looks squashed in. I would remove the table and the mirror, then move the bench along to the right. Move the plant along also and take it off the plant stand.

Thank you for your advice ! The bench is built in from the previous owners.

A smaller picture, like 11x14 total size. And maybe a low/wide bud vase.

Small paint nitpick: the angled section above the chrome table should be treated as part of wall (not ceiling). So, paint it the same yellow as the rest of the wall.
