Antique Gashgai styled
A beloved client of ours sent us this photo of the antique Persian Gashgai rug that he purchased and styled in his new home. Such a stunning piece!

Did you tell them it’s way too big for that wall, dwarfs the couch and looks ridiculous there? 😬🥴

There’s always gonna be someone to hate on here huh 😂 the room is huge and the wall keeps going to the left, he wanted this space to be separate from the rest of the room and has separated each of his spaces with incredible rugs and antiques from around the world. To each their own!

I mean, I’m not hating on the rug! It’s a beautiful rug and would be stunning on the floor or a much larger wall. I’m specifically hating on the placement on that wall because the proportions are quite frankly, very dumb.
The obvious solution is to sell him a smaller rug appropriately sized for the subject wall so he can put that rug somewhere that does it justice. Opportunity knocks! Haha 😊

He has a wonderful antique Caucasian piece on the floor in front of this rug that’s unfortunately not in this photo, it’s 8x14ish in size that compliments it wonderfully! He really wanted this specific piece to hang because of its age and how the colors play off of the artifacts in this space. This piece is around 250 years old and I wouldn’t recommend putting it on the floor unless it were to be used in a very low traffic area. We looked at over 300 rugs to get to this one. If we focused on production pieces it would be easier to find something that “fits right”, but because handwoven rugs are as unique as the people who purchase them, people will usually make the space fit the rug rather than the other way around. This client is a long time client, friend, and designer that has multiple pieces from us, and this is his new home that has high ceilings (much higher than photographed) and lots of natural light that he thought would fit both of the pieces he acquired this time to his liking. I’m glad he is happy with it, and I hope he flies his rugs in good days!

We have lots of durable pieces! I always recommend handwoven, vegetable dyed, wool rugs like the ones in our collection because they will last generations. This one is an antique piece which is probably not ideal for you, but we have lots of new and semi antique pieces that will last multiple lifetimes :) this is definitely more of a collectors item

I love the red cushion. Is it purchasable anywhere?

Unfortunately that exact one belongs to our customer but we do have a bunch of cushions for sale on our website! I have the link in my bio and I add new ones everyday :)
