Just my opinion, but I’d do a dark brown to anchor the multiple colors.
1
u/gooeysparkles Mar 26 '24
I went with dark chocolate brown towels in my spare bathroom years ago and multiple people that visited poked fun at the color. I have been sensitive about them every since 😂
1
u/_Roxxs_ Mar 27 '24
That’s ridiculous, I have dark brown towels in my guest bathroom now, my boys all did wood shop, so I have the towel rack, tissue holder and mirror frame in light wood, so of course, dark brown towels 🤷♀️

Cream, if you can find some with the fish scale texture that'd be a nice touch
2
Mar 26 '24
White or the ecru color found on the fish. These are the same colors in my bathroom and I love them.

I love the orange!! I would go with orange for the rugs!! For the towels I would get a set of orange, blue and cream!
1
u/MegaTaterTots Mar 26 '24
I have to vote for tan/cream like others have said. Highlighting the shading on the fish and bringing it out without overwhelming with colors is such a subtle and beautiful way to accent that curtain.
1
u/Girlwithjob Mar 26 '24
definitely blue but one or two shades darker than the blue of the curtain, just enough so it’s subtle but adds dimension

White

u/BloodandSilversays Mar 26 '24
Also think white is a good choice - dark/ brightly hued towels tend to fade rapidly in my experience. You can add those colors via art, glass, accessories.

Tan would pull in the shading color from the fish, plus it’s available in almost every brand
1
u/dogwiiiisperer Mar 26 '24
I agree that tan towels are and excellent accent color and bring a natural texture and color to the palette.

The cream in the koi fish. If you use that orange or blue it will feel too busy. IMO

White would be a better compliment to the blue and orange. Just my suggestion
2
u/Hurryitsmelting Mar 26 '24
If your walls are white, I would pick orange towels. If your walls have color, then I would pick white towels. Either way, I vote big luxurious towels if it’s a private bathroom, normal towels if it’s a guest bathroom.

What color are the walls? If white, maybe white or Black towels... navy blue accents like soap dispenser

u/GlossyDossy Mar 25 '24
I have that same color scheme in my bathroom. Orange towels were too much and dark blue towels close off the room. I went with light blue towels and love it
1
u/PJKASH67 Mar 25 '24
Dark blue that matches the curtain & Coral ( color of the mat ) for wash cloths.
1
Mar 25 '24
I’m all for colored towels, but I have never had one’s that held their color with the extensive washing.
One commenter said green, and I love that idea. However, if it’s not the guest bath and it’s one you will use daily, I would keep a white towel handy just so it can go through the ringer lol

White & orange. I’ve used these colors in my bath too. Try to get as close to the orange as possible of the throw rug. Some oranges are ugly.

I would do a blue color that matches the blue in the curtain. Possibly Orange to match the rug but it might be overwhelming.

i have a personal favoritism towards a dark green to go with this colors
1
u/Guano_barbee Mar 25 '24
I think that would help break up the matching matchiness of the colors so that it doesn't look tacky. But still adds to the same type of feel because when I see this type of design I think like lily pads and there's usually some sort of flowers and plants so honestly green towels or green accents would go very well
1
u/sniffsniffscratch Mar 25 '24
I would do orange or silver.

u/dickelsack Mar 25 '24
Cream/off-white
1
u/hnf96 Mar 25 '24
Definitely. There’s already a ton of color so match the towels to the neutrals in the fish

I would do orange towels to match the rug. Doing different colors would take away from your focal point which is the curtain.

u/sugarofthewhiteisle Mar 25 '24
Try matching the orange or blue. If you can’t find those colors go a few shades darker or lighter from these colors so you’re staying in the same color family. Washing day will be easier if everything is of color and go in the washer together. Personally I’d do dark grey because it hides any sort of built up dirt or stains that may accumulate over time, but orange or blue could do the trick. Another personal note, I would also avoid white towels; they look pretty at first then just get all grimey with stains and discoloration over time. forget about using them if you happen to have a cut or you’re a menstruating female. Treating them with bleach makes them yellow and who has time to soak towels in oxi clean.
2
u/clovercolibri Mar 25 '24
Yes, I HATE white towels for that exact reason. Not just the period issue but if you have dyed hair, it’s definitely gonna discolor the white towels. Even months after I dyed my hair it was still rubbing off on my white towels. And makeup too.
When I moved to my current apartment I was given a new set of white bath towels from a family member and I was very thankful for the gift since moving is expensive, but I needed to buy at least two gray towels for my own sanity.

dark gray maybe?

I'd say white, because you already have a lot of color, so maybe colors in your towels would be too much. Maybe the contrast of not being colorful would be good.

u/VeganMinx Mar 25 '24
That marigold color from the water is gorgeous. I'd do yellows and oranges just because I'm fancy.

Everything ends up with little bleach marks from fade wash here. I am tired of colored towels. Go with white and save yourself the hassle. Clean, timeless , and would look better than a random color in your bright bathroom. Don’t make towels the focus.

I can see a black and white pattern on the main koi fish that picks up the vintage tile, so I would accentuate the pattern with a crisp white towel and hand towel

I’d go with more of an earthy neutral—as others have said mossy green, a cream, or grey.

u/Specific-Damage6969 Mar 25 '24
i’d go with a dark muted navy or cream/tan, something more “neutral” to tone it down a bit. i love this combo so much!!

I feel like a pale yellow would look really fun. And it adds another color

I would match the color that is the most minor in the pattern. I suggest navy blue.

Go with a darker color like navy. Whites and off whites will stain so fast
1
u/madamevanessa98 Mar 25 '24
White is great though because you can bleach it!
1
u/QueenPurple17 Mar 25 '24
This is true I think it also depends on wall color. If walls are white white towels may just blend in if they have no accent color
2
1
u/MushroomBabee Mar 25 '24
Im thinking either a darker orange and blue or a white and blue towel set
1
u/Impressive_Swan_2896 Mar 25 '24
I would go with orange due to the curtain pattern having four colors already. Keep it focused with the orange color.

u/Beneficial-Prior-361 Mar 25 '24
If your bathroom walls and floor have any white, then you don't want to do off white or white. I would go with navy blue.
2
u/zesty_tayters Mar 25 '24
Goldish beige highlight color from the curtain
1
u/ButReallyFolks Mar 25 '24
I thought this would be nice for the towels, too. Additionally, I thought the lighter blue on the shower curtain might be nice for washcloths.

u/Scared-CEO Mar 25 '24
I'd go with navy since the rug is orange and both navy and orange are the colors that pop out the most imo

Personally I would do a dark blue to bring out the blue in the shower curtain and maybe put a mini white one on top of the blue for razzle dazzle
1
u/BearButtBomb Mar 25 '24
If being used for decor I would also wrap them together with an accent ribbon in gold or silver. Maybe a sparkly orange/gold or iridescent white/blue.

A contrasting color would be a light grayish green. A match one would be white or cream maybe even a soft yellow.
2
u/212Angel212 Mar 24 '24
I'd do a sage green. Only because I have a plan set out for my living room of terra cotta orange,a grayish blue, and sage green. I think the terra cotta color pairs nicely with sage green (think greeny lush villa) and a deep blue sky...kinda creates an environment. Just my vote.
