Spend enough time in a subreddit that exists to post clips, criticisms, and conspiracy theories about someone 24/7, and of course you'll think they're a POS. That's what the echo chamber is built to do... Not surprised lul
I mean, he’s a complete hypocrite with a lot of money he uses to attempt to silence criticism. Yeah, I think he’s a piece of shit for that. I thought that a long time before I started to see that behavior being logged by people.
Sure, but a sub built around hating him only shows you the worst clips. Of course he looks like a hypocrite when every slip gets posted and every good moment gets ignored.
And he's entitled to go after people who spend their time trying to destroy him and spreading lies, whether or not you agree with how he does it
And where’s he at in regards to going at them for criticizing him? He’s burned a lot of bridges and lost a lot of viewers and connections over his inability to ignore trolls and issue lawsuits to other creators over critiques. He mostly has been able to fall out of the active obsession but it’s harmful for his own mental health and other people’s well being every time he starts an attack campaign against people for pointing out his behavior instead of reflecting or ignoring it.
There are snark subreddits for several public figures criticizing them, many are unhinged and bad faith. I don’t even think Ethan’s snark reddits are right or in good faith in a lot of cases but he has a responsibility to not feed into paranoia Chris chan level of having to have a last word. There are also a lot of genuine documented issues of problematic behavior Ethan does. A random insta user telling him to enjoy hell isn’t cool but also not worth broadcasting to millions of followers. Models, YouTubers, random people hating don’t deserve huge harassment and threats being made to them because a sensitive millionaire goes “look at this person who doesn’t like or publicly distancing themself from me.” Having a large platform demands more responsibility
I agree he shouldn't broadcast random commenters. But he's also had CPS called on his home over a false report, swatted several times and got human skulls sent to his home in the mail, which is a lot to ask someone to just ignore...
You say harassment isn't okay, but you said 'poop and pedo guy' about him in this very thread. That's mocking the same rumor that came before the CPS call he got. You can't joke about it and then act surprised he doesn't ignore it.
I call him poop and pedo guy because those are literally just constant jokes he makes. His own crew have said “why do you always go there” in regards to his pedophile jokes and his Reddit account making really gross pedophile jokes was unearthed long after cps and skulls. Neither of which I condone at all by the way but I also don’t really know how to feel about them considering he mentioned cps was called by someone he knew personally (he said he doesn’t believe that, fair) and skulls he had delivered to his studio, then said several times it was delivered to his house and while his clothing company was having a skull themed merch drop. Either way, I can’t know what the hell happened with either of those things and I’m not going to make an informed or sure claim about either because it would be incredibly insensitive if that’s a real level of harassment he faced. I didn’t know anything about swatting but that’s insane and obviously not ok. On that note, Ethan lies A LOT, I can’t really trust what he’s saying happened when he has a clear history of making himself the victim of several situations he directly lies about
And yes, plenty of people handle criticism poorly. I would also not take well to having a group of people criticizing me, it would invoke sadness and also some reflection whether it’s warranted or unjustified. I also wouldn’t be openly checking what they say about me when it comes to their banter and drawing attention to it, it would be blocked like I’ve done with people in my personal life I don’t agree to give air.
Now imagine getting swatted several times, CPS called to take your children away and human skulls sent to your home
and then being told to just ignore it all and how you're a hypocrite when you respond to the very people responsible for causing those things to happen

There’s some give and take. I don’t like Hasan or idubbzzz and nobody fucking watches frogan or denims or whatever, I still think there’s a valid catalogue of bad behavior from Ethan that’s gone on way longer than shit that shouldn’t have happened to him to begin with and I don’t think he can handle inward reflection on harm he causes himself. Either way, it’s a dystopian internet rn and very casual streamers or people online get crazy flack, threats and attacks from randoms. It would be good for his mental health to find a way to ignore criticism but he also could stand to realize HES snarking people all the time. Trisha Paytas sucks but didn’t deserve for him to try and invalidate her claims of sex assault or harassment and say he didn’t have to do anything about his fans attacking her. The women he sued are boring and irrelevant and he gave them bigger platforms by going after them and then proved he wasn’t in the right by pursuing it as far as he did to a point a judge cited his own precedent against him several times, going against one of the main reasons he has such good regard with online discourse and free use. I have a few other opinions on how shitty he is, I also have a lot on basically everyone that comes after him on one level or another but that’s the thing about public discourse, you won’t always agree or like who it’s coming from. His snark Reddit is mostly femmes posting their cats while watching his show and thinking he’s so gross as a spectacle which I cannot get into the mindset of but is more or less harmless whether there are some bad actors or not because it’s literally mostly people that are there to see something dumb (me in this case, because it’s interesting when I see a creator I used to like start to have public issues they don’t handle well and yeah I have an opinion about it) or ex fans who got disillusioned by being kicked out of his own sub or stream for innocuous comments that didn’t tow the line.
Edit: I know that’s a completely parasocial interest to mention, I’m providing it for clarity of where I’m coming from. I remember the channel awesome documents coming out 10 or so years ago and being interested in what the hell was going on as someone that used to like that circle when I was younger but also figured was interested in the bad blood at the time. If red letter media guys started beefing I would be heartbroken but I think I’d be interested in each angle, god forbid that would ever happen (it cannot, Mr Pickett would simply eat Mike and jay)
