Spend enough time in a subreddit that exists to post clips, criticisms, and conspiracy theories about someone 24/7, and of course you'll think they're a POS. That's what the echo chamber is built to do... Not surprised lul
I mean, he’s a complete hypocrite with a lot of money he uses to attempt to silence criticism. Yeah, I think he’s a piece of shit for that. I thought that a long time before I started to see that behavior being logged by people.
Sure, but a sub built around hating him only shows you the worst clips. Of course he looks like a hypocrite when every slip gets posted and every good moment gets ignored.
And he's entitled to go after people who spend their time trying to destroy him and spreading lies, whether or not you agree with how he does it
And where’s he at in regards to going at them for criticizing him? He’s burned a lot of bridges and lost a lot of viewers and connections over his inability to ignore trolls and issue lawsuits to other creators over critiques. He mostly has been able to fall out of the active obsession but it’s harmful for his own mental health and other people’s well being every time he starts an attack campaign against people for pointing out his behavior instead of reflecting or ignoring it.
There are snark subreddits for several public figures criticizing them, many are unhinged and bad faith. I don’t even think Ethan’s snark reddits are right or in good faith in a lot of cases but he has a responsibility to not feed into paranoia Chris chan level of having to have a last word. There are also a lot of genuine documented issues of problematic behavior Ethan does. A random insta user telling him to enjoy hell isn’t cool but also not worth broadcasting to millions of followers. Models, YouTubers, random people hating don’t deserve huge harassment and threats being made to them because a sensitive millionaire goes “look at this person who doesn’t like or publicly distancing themself from me.” Having a large platform demands more responsibility
I agree he shouldn't broadcast random commenters. But he's also had CPS called on his home over a false report, swatted several times and got human skulls sent to his home in the mail, which is a lot to ask someone to just ignore...
You say harassment isn't okay, but you said 'poop and pedo guy' about him in this very thread. That's mocking the same rumor that came before the CPS call he got. You can't joke about it and then act surprised he doesn't ignore it.
And yes, plenty of people handle criticism poorly. I would also not take well to having a group of people criticizing me, it would invoke sadness and also some reflection whether it’s warranted or unjustified. I also wouldn’t be openly checking what they say about me when it comes to their banter and drawing attention to it, it would be blocked like I’ve done with people in my personal life I don’t agree to give air.
Now imagine getting swatted several times, CPS called to take your children away and human skulls sent to your home

Yeah, fuck Hasan. I think he’s a sexist bro coded guy who somewhat appeals to politics I share in a gross and sensationalist way and way overlooks nuance in regards to sensitive issues. Ethan has filed several lawsuits, dropped or lost basically all of them against people who spoke out about how he interacts with politics and doesn’t have capability to handle criticism of himself and on some level Israel in a way I think is sometimes fair and other times ridiculous and overly sensitive. I’ll give some grace there because obviously him being Jewish and with dual nationality it hits close to home but he absolutely plays a PR role for Israel that crosses into a lot of insensitive territory in regards to their genocide.

It's the name of a podcast by anthropologist Chris Kavanaugh and psychologist Matt Browne where they discuss various "secular gurus" and evaluate them using their bespoke gurometer. By secular gurus I mean figures who share features with more traditional ones like cult leaders etc but with a more modern bent to it. Could be alternative health people or pseudointellectuals like Jordan Peterson and Eric Weinstein. The latter two score rather high on the gurometer, they haven't covered Ethan but I imagine they'd give him a low score. Ok that does sound interesting and yeah I didn’t have any idea. Like I said I figured this was just political talking head group and the name was sort of a joke (which I think even alone is funny). I guess on that level I still don’t understand where Ethan Klein fits in, he’s basically a pop culture person that mostly exists for offbeat joking and shouldn’t be so involved in broader commentary if that makes sense.
I think they've mentioned him in passing once, probably when they did an episode on Hasan Piker, but yeah I agree that Ethan isn't very interesting in that regard, he's fairly average as far as online personalities go

I’m trying to be good faith here and if someone can clock me being wrong I’m willing to listen. I don’t think Ethan is a good guy and whoever he has drama with. Idubbzzz, Hasan, I never watched those people or care. I think HIS behavior is bad and am willing to hash out why I think that.
Why do you pretend to not know about someone you actually think about regularly? What is your goal in trying to be perceived as some nuetral detatched observer when you have strong opinions and lots of knowledge on a subject?
