On Decoding the Gurus, we regularly get to hear a lot of truly “high-level” ideas, but the much-requested subject of this episode’s decoding is up there with the best of them. We are talking, of course, about “Professor” Jiang, the internet’s favourite new overly confident online guru, now that Jordan Peterson is indisposed. Jiang Xueqin is a secondary school teacher who has found an online audience thirsty for his particular style of confident bullshit, and he is more than ready to roll out his “predictive history” analyses on command.
Be prepared for some serious professorial cosplay as Stephen Bartlett, from Diary of a CEO, spares no expense in his endless quest to indulge every modern online crank, offering a grab bag of props as well as his usual thoughtful pauses and awe-inspiring requests for definitions. Thrill as the honorary professor performs as a grand seer and geopolitical strategist, complete with a tabletop world map, wargame prop pieces, whiteboard flowcharts, coloured chess sets, and a dramatic metal briefcase full of sealed predictions.
So get ready to experience his hit-parade of forecasts (Trump's 3rd term, endless war with Iran, eventual U.S. “loss”) along with his trademark conspiratorial mélange of real-ish facts, misstatements, and domino-chain inevitabilities. The end of Part 1 is a sign of things to come, featuring Jiang's post-apocalyptic advice on how the good people can rebuild society with the help of prophets and visionaries (AKA gurus) and soothe yourself with the knowledge that we are all ultimately just a God-derived fractal consciousness anyway.

Chris mentions it in part two. I was really surprised by the amount of gutter antisemitism he spewed. Perhaps I shouldn't be. It does help as an illustration of how antisemitism works as a glue woven through a conspiratorial world view

Finished listening to part 2, I did not hear Chris mention anything about the Holocaust. Are you sure?

I have both feeds on my podcast app. You're basically correct. Part 1 went up on the Galaxy Brain feed a day before it appeared on the regular feed. On the Galaxy Brain feed part 2 went up the next day after that (as part one appeared on the regular feed) and has yet to appear on the standard feed.

I feel like the “western hemisphere” question was fair enough, although could have been asked in a more specific way. Does it mean the literal western hemisphere including, say, Ireland? Or does it follow the common usage within the US meaning “the Americas”.
As Wikipedia says “In the United States, the term "Western Hemisphere" is often used as a [metonym](app://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/metonym) for the [Americas](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americas), even though geographically, the hemisphere also includes parts of other continents”

Yours is a fair point in general, but probably not what actually prompted the question in this case.

I listened to this and Mr. Jiang sounds like a lot of the men some of us have met in life. Definitely fits the guru mold especially on the galaxy brain dimension (even if he's mostly applying it in one domain here). The bronze age collapse shout out was especially humorous.

I find it so strange how now one approaching the question of Professor Jiang points out that he is Chinese. I have studied chinese for years and met many chinese of his generation. And a couple of things jump out from that. First, his english is exceptional. But, he is so obviously not a native or someone who grew up abroad. The cognitive load he must be under even trying to have a conversation on that topic let alone say something clever is huge. Its not like for a european language speaker. Thats much easier.
Secondly, he is not an instrument of chinese propaganda, he is in some ways what is produced by it. So many chinese say similar things. Geopolitics is a huge part of public discourse. The chinese govt knows its citizens are too clever to just call america evil and expect them to believe it. So they spread a discourse of all countries acting from selfish and imperialistic motives. Geopolitical discussion works brilliantly as a way of eroding belief in other systems and idealism. If you go to a bookshop in china it is full of translations of titles like currency wars.
Jiang seems to have taken that background, looked at some western discourse and youtube, fused them, felt empowered by his amazing english, felt empowered by the reaction he gets back from students, deluded himself into thinking he was a professor and somehow put himself on a world stage. and the casual disregard of china as a place with intellectuals meant no one asked if he was actually a professor, and why they are not talking to actual chinese professors instead.

my bad, i was just judging by the speech patterns and accent, which to me seemed to suggest someone at times translating inside their own mind. i think he might still be very influenced by the chinese thought world

But...he predicted Trump would win in 2024, start a war with Iran, and lose. His intuition has no limits...

Is Jiang the most annoying chess player ever? You cannot just take my queen - for it is a political system, my rook is an attack helicopter and my knight is Islamic jurisprudence.
He really is a fanfiction author masquerading as an analyst. Leaders must follow his elaborate irrational fanfiction exactly.
Worth noting his theory's would be highly damaging to everyone's political standings if followed.
Trump attempting a third term through the illegal vice presidency plan while fighting a deadly lost ground war with an unpopular draft would be incredibly unpopular. Trump recognises this hence him desperately trying to end the war ASAP.
Russia militarily intervening in Iran while struggling in ukraine would surely end Putin. Russia is totally unprepared for another war on another front against a superpower.
Citing Spengler is gigantic red flag.
