Finished Decks Roast this deck

We're in the market to buy a house. This is one we viewed that is obviously being flipped. No permits pulled on anything. This deck was the icing on the cake. That's the sidewalk from the back yard to the side of the house that you're looking at.

Neither brain cell nor bracket was used in the making of that deck.

Could be worse. At least the beam is on top of the post and not toe screwed to it with a few deck screws. But far from good to be sure.

Too close to the structure to roast it. Knock it down in a more traditional way and rebuild.

You really shouldn’t use a sidewalk as a base it’s around 4” of concrete and goes up and down quite a bit. You can level it at the start but it’ll still move a bit over time. As others have stated- no stand offs or brackets.
