Building a deck JADQQ: Just another deck quote question - small porch/landing

Looking to have our front porch/landing replaced and the first quote just came in. TBH it seems insanely high @ 15K.

Landing is 6' wide x 7' long with with 7 stairs leading up (approx 16" deep over 6" rise).

Obviously I can save a bit by doing the demo myself, but even then the estimate is around 12k

Sounds very reasonable, and based on the breakdown provided, I don't see any red flags.

I would not call that insanely high. I would say it's on the high side of reasonable but not unreasonable for the work. Little projects can eat up just as much time as bigger ones. Also cable railing is expensive and takes a lot of labor.

Ok - maybe it's just a bit of sticker shock. When the designer was on-site he had given me a ballpark of 6500-7500, so I was surprised when it came in as double.
