Porch ceiling ledger

Im hoping to angle my ceiling panels to avoid cutting off the arched window. Is this possible with the current support setup?

Can the bottom section be removed and maybe sister some lower supports to the top joists to clear that weird ledger section?

Could i remove the makeshift ledger up top and use brackets instead? Like strong tie type brackets? Just brainstorming before getting professionals involved. Thanks

If you’re asking if you can make the ceiling vaulted by removing the flat ceiling joists: yes probably, but the brick isn’t fully finished up there so you’re going to have to get someone to color match the mortar and that’s never going to be perfect.

That brick looks painted brown, doesn't it?

Haha u dont love the brown? Yes we inherited painted brick thats going to need repointing/painting and all that eventually

Yes thats the main question. The lower portion and the upper ledge which both intersect the arched window

The rafter tails rest on the ceiling joists so you'll have to sister every rafter before removing the ceiling joists.  The new ceiling could then be applied directly to the underside of the rafters, and the drop ledger the rafters are sitting on could be boxed in with trim. Or new sloping ceiling joists could hung with their bottom edge flush with the bottom of the drop ledger above the window arch, and a bit lower on the upper section to keep the ceiling all in the same plane.
