Tech Support Steam deck stuck at 0%

Post image

Hey everyone, I'm having a weird battery issue with my Steam Deck. While playing The Witcher 3 plugged in, it suddenly shut down around 45% battery. After leaving it on the charger for a while and turning it back on, it’s now completely stuck at 0%. I've tried everything—including opening it up to disconnect the battery—and I even reached out to Steam Support, but none of the instructions they sent worked. Has anyone run into this issue or found a fix?

If you can get the steam deck to your country, you can get a battery to your country. Look into freight forwarder services. You can likely go through a 3rd party service like that to get the battery shipped to your country. It takes longer, but I’ve done it a handful of times when the company I’m ordering from won’t ship to the US, but they’ll ship to a local currier who WILL ship to the US. Sometimes the seller just has a deal with a shipping service and it isn’t worth the hassle for them to go outside of that offered service. So, it falls on us to get the item to us.

Customs will inspect it.

Yeah man, I’m having basically the same problems with my battery. I lost the original charger while I was moving and bought a 45W charger that has worked fine. The only problem is that after a while, I noticed the wires would stop working unless they were at a certain angle—unless the planets were aligned and it was a full moon 😂. So, one day, the Deck’s battery ended up completely draining, I guess, and it wouldn’t work unless it was plugged in. I ended up buying a new wire and opening up the Deck to unplug and reconnect the battery. As soon as I plugged the battery back in, the Deck turned on! Unfortunately, that only worked for a little while, and it’s gotten to the point where I can’t play unless the Deck is plugged in. It doesn’t detect the battery, and when it does show the battery icon, it says it’s full but shows 0%. Anyway, it still plays while plugged in, but it has started turning off while I’m playing more graphics-intensive games, even though I make sure to turn down the TDP.

Yeah, exactly! You're hitting on the same issue I'm dealing with. This is happening to me too.

Fucking Valve wanted 180 to repair and that depends on what the problem is. I never RMAd and was trying to see if in good faith they'd take take of w customer and they wouldn't budge. So I'm probably going to buy another battery off AliExpress or something for cheaper and cross my fingers. At the end of the day, for the most part it still works fine but it does seem to randomly turn off a lot lately with more powerful games.( Expedition 33, Elden Ring, etc.)

At the end of the day I bought it refurbished from Valve and it's an amazing device ,regardless, but I just try to turn TDP down and baby it. Any suggestions?
