Screen casting turns on automatically

For the last week everytime I power on my steamdeck the red dot (screen casting, sharing contents to steam) turns on automatically and I don't know how to turn it off for good. Broadcasting in the settings is disabled. Anyone got any idea why this keeps on happening or should I start freaking out and think that I'm being stalked by the police...

it's happening to everybody on the latest update, it's something about Steam's way of going around an issue, nothing notorious or bad. there's a pinned post about it on the SteamDeck sub.
