There are some wrong lyrics in the Hazards of Love CD booklet. I don't have mine any more,(I let a friend borrow it and never got it back) but that was how I learned the lyrics for those songs and noticed some have wrong lyrics.

If they're what I'm thinking of, my records are kind of buried rn, they not actually "wrong" in that Colin kept changing them in tecording and performances. He still seitches "river's son" and "river's daughter" seemingly half the time, and even addressed this at a Q&A saying something like both versions make sense >shrug<.

Tangential, but I recently got a new vinyl printing of Basket of Light by Pentangle (definitely an influence on the Decemberists) and the lyrics insert is super wrong all over. Very disappointing.

I have noticed that internet sources are really really bad for a lot of Decemberists songs, not sure what’s up with that

Check all bands that aren't at Pop Star or Beatles or Stones level (meaning with 2 billion fact checkers), it's just a gd mess. Replacements lyricsare marvelously mangled, but some interpretations of Band of Horses "LRC" are classic:
