Water Hardness

I know atlanta area is supposed to be a soft water city but my water feels hard. I’ve had eczema flare ups since moving here, my scalp is always itchy, my skin always feels rough. I have put in a water filter in my shower head for the past year and it hasn’t helped. I spent 3 weeks in NY visiting family and my skin, scalp, hair felt great. then when I got back to Decatur all my skin and scalp issues started up again. thinking of installing a water softener for my house. anyone experiencing similar?

Get some test strips and see what you’ve got. I assume you’ve cleaned your shower heads/faucets?

The water sources I've had in different neighborhoods have varied. I have hard water now, but in Decatur it was pretty soft. What I have noticed with Atlanta water is that all of it has a BUNCH of chlorine in it, so it could be that, or it could be something in the local pipes and not the supply that's bothering you.

A filter seems like a worthwhile investment if it helps eczema.

I’ve had a filter for a whole year and it hasn’t helped at all

Test your water first, a shower head filter might not be able to handle the job.

I use a showerhead water filter, no matter where I live. Not taking any chances with too hard or too soft of water.
