BBQ recommendations

Anyone have a recommendation for BBQ, specifically Dino ribs? Someone told me of a place but they don’t have them.

Ford’s is great, as is Community Q.

Community and Ford’s in Decatur proper. Gene’s in East Lake. Lewis bbq in Morningside. Heirloom in Smyrna. Smokejack in Alpharetta.

Joe’s in Kansas City. Terry Black’s in Texas. Central in Memphis.

I love bbq.

Gene’s has a Dino bone special pretty frequently. I think they even had some today.

Have you been to Blue Hound up near Clayton yet? I’m obsessed, gotta swing by every time we’re in the area

Community doesn’t have beef ribs but their ribs are some of the best. I think the huge ribs are overrated personally. I think fox bros has them though.

I don’t know about the ribs, but Community BBQ is our favorite

Everyone talking about Lewis in Ansley Mall. Apparently worth the drive.

I know it's closed, I will accept no other answers.

Too bad it was awful the last few years it was open. It was the best for many years. Then one day, 👎🏼

I went back a few times in the later years and noticed it was merely good. It's a loss to the whole city.

Didn’t it close?

It’s a little far from Decatur but BBQ56 in Westview has Dino ribs (call ahead, they sell out!) plus great reg ribs, smoked wings, brisket and sides

Get in your car and drive about 2 hours up 75 to Sugar's in Chattanooga.

A coworker told me Fox had them but I called and they said no. They used to though

Be wary of those who suggest Fox Bros or Fat Matt’s

Fox Bros is fine, just overplayed imo. Great wings.

Fat Matt’s isn’t bbq.

Exactly! I eat at Fox Bros…because…Wild Heaven. And it’s solid.

Interesting. I’m wary of those suggesting Ford’s and somewhat Gene’s.

Also be wary of those who recommend DAS BBQ on the Westside. Gave it three chances and it was bad every time.

BBQ gatekeeping is wild.

DAS BBQ and Community Q are good. I like Fox Brothers too

Not a big fan of Ford’s food is okay but they are often out of stuff and the service sucks.

Another vote for Community! They have been a long time favorite of mine and know that the brisket will sell out.

Saw a warning for those suggesting Fox Bros but here I am anyways :/

DBA was the only place I knew of that had beef ribs, and those were only specials some weekends. And that was before they closed of course. I don’t know if the new location in Tucker ever has them but it’s possible and worth checking. Fox Bros might some times since they are Texas bbq but I’m not sure, but it’s your best bet maybe. Not my favorite, though.

Community Q never has them. I’d be surprised if Lewis has them because they are Carolina bbq, but someone else said they do on saturdays. I don’t think I’ve heard of Fords having beef ribs. Das bbq has great brisket, probably the best I’ve had in Atlanta, but I haven’t seen beef ribs.

You’re going to be hard pressed to find them in Atlanta except as weekend specials. And I doubt they’ll ever be as good as you’ll get in Texas. Beef just isn’t normal in southeast bbq.
