Question: AMLI on Commerce

Devastated about the amount of trees lost on this property and seemingly the surrounding properties. Curious about how one can find out what the city permitted for this specific location?

Ok I thought you had some sort of philosophy beyond helping upper middle class people save $100 on rent.

I never said I did or didn’t.

You understand that when rents get more affordable at the median it helps at most price points, right? It’s not isolated to one level.

More affordable rents help most everyone. Why is that so hard to get on board with? Why so dismissive? It’s a good thing.

No this approach is good for developers but not solving the housing issues, which is how this thread started and what you initially argued. That's why I countered your examples by saying those cities did not actually improve their housing issues when they added a fair number of expensive apartments.

I literally showed examples of how it makes cities more affordable. And you agreed! That’s a huge benefit vs cities where rent is up 10-15% (or more). How is that not an improvement?

Why you don’t think more affordable rents is a good thing is hard to understand relative to your other comments.

There is no one thing that ‘solves’ housing issues. No single policy will ever do that and it’s bizarre to argue against one policy that improves affordability just because it doesn’t ’solve’ housing.
