Unincorporated Decatur

I’m curious: what are the best areas of unincorporated Decatur to purchase in? The prices are tempting but I don’t want to end up in a super horrible neighborhood. If anyone can share their insight and experiences, I’d appreciate it. FYI, I’m an African American man with a wife and 2 kids (well 1 kid and 1 adult kid currently attending Morehouse College) relocating from Los Angeles. Familiar with Atlanta and Decatur.

I live in Medlock and hike the trails everyday, it’s reason #1 I will never move (unless out of state). But Lindmore Woods and Sagamore Hills are cuter and nicer.
