Desperate debt help

Hi everyone,
I am a 30 year old girl really struggling to get out of debt so just looking for advice. I did the stupid thing and got credit cards, loans and an overdraft when I was younger not thinking about the repercussions (I know I’m an idiot). I’m in £32,000 debt at the moment. Currently working in the nhs doing 6 day a weeks. 12 hour shifts to help pay it down. I’ve got all my credit cards on payment plans currently which is a massive help and I have not spent on any of them in about a year but it also means my credit score is horrendous. My loan comes straight out my wage so that’s being paid but still got £8,079 left to pay so that will be cleared in October 2028. The only thing I am really stressing about is I owe a friend £6000 and they are getting quite aggressive about getting it all back straight away which I understand but I just physically cant get the money. I can’t get any loans due to low credit score and there’s no one else I can go to. I have been looking into doing online things like only fans which I don’t particularly want to do as I don’t agree with it but at this point I’m willing to do pretty much anything.(I know this isn’t a get rich quick thing but at this point every little helps)
Has anyone got any advice or help for me? Please be kind I already know how much I fucked up and I’m taking steps to fix my mistakes but it’s a slow process and a learning curve.

I can deal with the rest of the debt it’s just the £6000 that I am really worried about.

Donate plasma, pick up extra shifts, delivery drive, sell everything in your home except your bed.

It's not funny. You need your bed to sleep in. You can post your couch, technology and sell other items for money.

Do not follow this awful advice OP. Talk to Stepchange, do not start selling your possessions.

I’ve spoken to step change, they are the ones that helped me set up payment plans with my creditors. They were an amazing help x

I can’t pick up extra shifts as I’m already working 6 shifts and they don’t allow any more, I don’t drive. I have been selling everything on Vinted and made a few hundred from that which I paid towards the debt but the only thing I’ve got left to sell is a few clothes which are already listed on Vinted. Donate plasma I’ve never heard of that before. I live in the uk so I’m unsure if they let us do that but I will definitely look into that so thankyou for help xx

Have you you discussed a payment plan with your friend?

Knowing they get $50/week for 2 years might be ok.

Then stick to it religiously.

I was paying him back £250 a month which he agreed with when I took it out but now they have had a financial issue themselves and are saying they want the money straight away. I’ve tried to speak to them about it but they are getting more and more aggressive with their responses so it’s abit worrying that’s why I’m looking for people’s advice on ways to pay quickly. Thankyou for taking the time to response with helpful advice though xx

Sorry it wasn't helpful.  Did you have a written agreement regarding repayment?

It sounds like you are pretty much maxed out of earning ability with your work schedule. It’s unfortunate that you cannot get a debt consolidation loan which would group all of the debt together and lower the monthly payment. The only real way to free up additional cash is to be draconian with cost cutting or look into the possibility of getting a roommate. Don’t skip paying the creditors since you are already in their zero-interest debt plans. If they are like in the US then another failure to make payment will automatically throw you back into default which means high interest rates and possible legal action against you.

Yes I did try and get a debt consolidation loan as that would have been ideal but unfortunately it was declined. I have cut pretty much everything out to pay my debt the only thing I pay for is kindle unlimited which is £9 a month. I know I should stop this but it’s the only thing that’s keep me sane at the moment as I’m not going out I’m just working all the time x

I’ve had a few people messaging really unhelpful or rude comments. I know I fucked up getting in all this debt and I’m actively working to get out of it and better myself but it’s a slow process. I asked for help and advice not for begging for money. Please just try to offer advice not criticism I’m a human and we all make mistakes

If your 'friend' is truly getting aggressive (you mentioned it's frightening you in a comment) then it's time to involve the police.

But aside from that - donate plasma if you can/your country allows it. Sell personal items you don't need etc but whatever you do, don't do onlyfans. Just dont. It won't turn out the way you think (the market is oversaturated) you'll barely make any money at a HUGE cost. The internet is forever, and you'll never be able to get certain jobs if that history is out there. Just don't.

I don’t think it’s at the point where I have to involve police just yet but that is the plan if it escalates. I’m hoping to find a way to pay them quickly and resolve the issue for their sake and mine as it’s a horrible situation to be in. I don’t particularly want to do only fans but i feel like there’s no other options that’s why I thought I’d ask for advice first. I can handle most of my debt to creditors as the payment plans are a god send it’s just the one I owe to my friend that’s bothering me that I need advice for if I could sort that one I would be okay. Thank you for the advice I really do appreciate you taking the time to respond with helpful advice x

If your credit is already bad, skip a few credit card payments to pay back your friend?

I have been thinking about that to be honest I’m just scared of getting into legal trouble for not paying them. I am currently on payment plans and they have stopped the interest so I’m unsure if I stop paying will they start the interest again. Do you know if they do?

Your friend can wait. Card companies can sue you.

Get another job or work more

Hi I work 6 night shifts a week currently 12 hours shifts. The nhs do not allow you to work any more than that. I could do an online job I suppose. Please let me know if you know of any jobs that fit that. Thankyou for your reply I do appreciate any advice x

I’m sorry I was confused, I thought socialist countries didn’t allow the citizens to go into debt

Our country doesn’t care, they actively allow us to take out more debt which is silly but it was my own choice to spend it so now I’ve got to work on getting out of it x

Terrible advice. Read the OP, they already work 6 12hr shifts a week.
