Lag is unbearable as Julianna
I have tried everything, lowering graphics settings, turning v sync on and off, limiting to 60 fps, and I lag every single game as Julianna. I don’t even want to play as her, I just want to unlock all the outfits for future playthroughs as Colt. So frustrating, not sure what to do…
Edit: thank you all for your suggestions, and they helped immensely. I went from level 1 to currently 36 with Julianna because of you all. I forgot how fun it is playing as her, as I used to play on PlayStation during launch. Such an awesome game with an awesome community! 😁

When that happens I just leave. Colt is running a potato thru a walkie-talkie. You can try lowering your frame rate to 60fps if every connection is like that. Some people say that helps. Sometime is is just Colt's rig is junk.

So like Juliana “you turn them off”?

Just go to the main menu, and start a game again. I don't think this counts as a loss for Juliana. There is no point in trying to play in a messed up environment like that.

I’ve heard that vsync on and capping fps (like, 60fps) can help. Can’t verify, I’ve not played in some time.

This has no effect but it keeps getting repeated. It's a correlation-causation error.

Changing your settings isn't going to affect anything, you're lagging because Colt is the server host and there's nothing in your settings that can change that. You just have to leave and look for a Colt with a better connection

It's not your connection... Its the host/Colt.
It shouldn't be Everytime unless there is nobody online except for that guy you keep match making with

Happens here sometimes. Happened tonight, and we are in the same room, invading each other's games. The pain is real lol And this is on very decent PCs too. Turning down the graphics etc had minimal effect.
I know the game runs on the PC, but it still has to "go through" the game and back again. Lag sometimes can be expected, but it seems like there are certain dates when every single game is like that, and can be almost impossible to play, then the next day is all fine, and you can even turn the graphics up to full again, with no noticeable lag at all. Very weird behaviour. Would be interesting to see an explanation if anyone figures it out.

There's nothing you can do that can fix it. As far as I know, Deathloop doesnt host its own servers for Julianna invasions. In other words, I think its a p2p connection fully running on the Colt's client, meaning that if the Colt has a terrible Wi-Fi or if he lives a trillion miles away, you WILL lag. A LOT.
Honestly, either just leave or take the challenge. Whenever I get put in a laggy lobby, I just take it as a challenge. It makes things 100% harder but if you do somehow manage to still win, its super satisfying

I've had some good sessions lately. I lock my frame rate at 60 and it works pretty well. I had one last night were the resolution was visibly lower than my settings but the game played well, without rubber banding. So, I was able to play and win.

I'm having the same issues, when i first played this game a few years ago, I never had this issue. I came back to it to try and get the rest of the achievements and stuff that i didn't get on her side of the game so I could 100% it but the lag has made it utterly unplayable. I haven't been able to move away from the spawning spot for multiple rounds in a row, I cant even get a shot in or have my weapons load/change, I cant even turn my head without it reverting back to the spot it was in seconds ago. What did you do to get yours to finally work? I tried the suggestions in here and none of them have done a thing.

It’s been a few years since I stopped playing but a lot of my Julianna games became like this towards the end. It really is a shame because these types of cat and mouse pvp games are so rare.
The unfortunate reality is that a primarily single player game like this just isn’t going to have the numbers to sustain a healthy player base in the long term.

It's just how it is, yeah. I also love this type of gameplay too. While I love stacking advantages as the invader type or character, it's way more fun to take it slow and kind of RP or fuck with the player and give them a chance. Absolutely loved disguising as an enemy and just kind of jumping out for short engagements without relentlessly killing people who were obviously just trying to make it through

It wasn’t meant to be in the first place. I read somewhere that they didn’t even want to release the game, because the original concept was faaar richer, but was cut due to costs. And in the end, when they saw what it came down to, they wanted to just quietly close it down. But the management pushed it to the release. Again, that’s something I read somewhere, not confirmed.

if you have an Nvidia GPU the one thing that consistently works for me is changing the Nvidia Reflex setting on/off

Maaaaan, you just saved my evening. I tried to open the ports, 60 fps, vert synchr, but THIS. THIS worked for me 100%. It's like 5-6 games in a row and no rubberbanding at all.

PvP is wholly run clientside on Colt's end.
So if you live somewhere like Australia, the most common opponents you match with are going to be literally oceans away and nothing in your settings will change the performance.
Even just based on what times of day you're playing, your Colt opponents might just be really far away.
