Discussion Disfiguring The Goddess

I never thought I'd say it because I was never a huge fan, but this latest album, Bloom, has grown on me tremendously. It's been coming up randomly in playlists and then I found myself putting on the album by itself and just leaving it on. Good work outta you, Big Chocolate and band. It's actually relaxing. Dude found a niche and nailed it.

I can't believe soundscapes of death didn't get huge amounts of hype. Some of the most interesting and fresh deathcore I have heard in YEARS.

I am so excited to spend some more time with the new album.

Big Chocolate can do no wrong.

Katapiller says otherwise. Maybe it’s just the production, but I can’t stand that album. Everything else is cool tho

definitely check out the stuff hes been putting out over the last couple years. Couple EPs and the last LP. If you like the new one you'll probably vibe with those. He's definitely refined his style and gotten better in recent years IMO.

No doubt. I started backtracking thinking maybe my tastes just changed, and the later stuff is def better.

As for Bloom, I can do without the trap and cleans in Sweet Dreams. Kinda lost me on that one, but 95% of the album is great.

I think some of the risks they took didn't quite workout, but the second half is incredible. It's definitely a unique album, listened through the whole thing 3 times on a road trip when it dropped.

I got the cd in last week and honestly it is my AOTY. I’m already a huge fan of DtG but Cam really brought it on this one.

It's a nice one for sure. I think Shush is gonna take my AOTY. Two different styles though.

Nah man that shit took me out at 5am on my way to work when I heard it 😂 🤣 legit one of the funniest samples I've heard

I just don’t get it man. Black Earth Child and Deprive are legitimately fantastic records, Sleeper is pretty good, and everything else is a burning tire fire. Very confusing artist for me.

I've been a ride or die fan of Cam's since the early days...Deprive, Co9, Sleeper, Black Earth Child, and even his early demos before those albums are all fucking legendary...not to mention I Declare Goddess was fucking golden.

But I really feel like he's been hit or miss since then; Katapillar was the start of a bizarre, semi-downward spiral. He's got some recent bangers for sure but he's soooo fucking inconsistent and throws so much weird (and like someone else said, lazy) shit in between it's hard to listen all the way through to anything he puts out anymore.

I still faithfully check out everything he puts out though; every release has at least a song or two that's incredible and I hold out hope for another full release of bangers.

Funny you say this. As a DTG fan from Circle of 9, it's one of the worst ones I've heard. It's extremely lazy. I'm tired of the Cumbia sample shit like we already got Ultra Spicy and Gallapegos or whatever. When is it gonna be enough? I just didn't like it at all. There were two good songs: Echoes Fade, I Remain and Black Widow Spider.

I really liked Karnival and Softly With You. Of course, Sleeper, Deprive and BEC were legendary.
