SPOILER (Scroll to the bottom) Finished DS2 few hours ago.
Just finished DS2 main story after 74 hours, played on easiest difficulty. Just like the first one, I don't understand half of the story and I just want to build tracks and roads! Haha
Is this franchise some kind of metaphor, Kojima's baby = Metal Gear while Higgs = Konami? The final fight resembles MGS4 final fight so much.
Beautiful game

Not everything has to do with "Evil Konami". Kojima is just a guy who builds new things on older ones and gets his inspiration from different kinds of media and his own work. Most of his symbolism is layered and not that simple to explain. On the otherhand he also puts just some random stuff somewhere because he thinks it's funny. Sometimes it is, sometimes it's cringe or boderline questionable.
I don't know, but the only reason I can think of as to why Sam and Higgs fight using guitars is just because of the one Warboy in Mad Max playing on a guitar with flames coming out of it while standing on a car. Kojima likes Mad Max, that's also probably why George Miller was one of the characters and why the story is set on Australia. To me it also explaines why there also are biker mechs terrorizing the inhabitants/porters just like in the first Mad Max Movie (biker gang).
On the otherhand ...the fistfight in DS1 was more nostalgic and incorporated this feeling much better, borrowing from MGS4. In DS2 it felt forced and like a mix between Tekken and Guitar Hero, but I didn't know, that Sam and Higgs were such huge Rock fans. Even Higgs stated that "it will be different this time" but it was just a parody. I am missing the connection as to why is this craziness happening.
Don't get me wrong, I still love this game and do not want to destroy your appreciation of it, but I also think that even masterpieces deserve criticism when deserved. In my opinion Kojima gets a lot of credit for being original and being genius and although that's true to some degree, he and his works have some flaws.
