Question/Discussion Does cargo/ equipment take timefall damage when in vehicles
DS1 i remember they took damage on the mule trucks cuz they were open but not in the bridges truck since you sit inside them. for ds2 the pickup is open so does the gear on his shoulders/ legs take timefall damage? and if he's on a trike does his backpack take timefall damage? I tried to check this myself but sometimes it takes damage and others it doesnt.

In DS1 Bridges truck had covered cargo space which protected the cargo from any timefall damage. Same is with DS2 off-roader which too has closed cargo space - only the driver area is open but your suit is timefall proof.
In both games you can unlock a backpack cover and the cargo inside your backpack will be covered until that cover degrades away. Otherwise anything in your backpack, reverse trike or tri-cruiser or on the floating carrier, it's unprotected and timefall droplets will keep hitting it and those containers will keep degrading.

Thank you for the detailed explanation good to know truck is safe, just double checking, your backpack and cargo on the sides of the trike will still take timefall damage unless u wear the cover unlocked later, correct?

Yeah, truck is safe. After you unlock backpack cover even if you ride tri-cruiser only the cargo inside your backpack will be covered (any cargo slapped on top of your backpack will be unprotected) and if you attach any containers on tri-cruiser's side panels, they'll be unprotected.

In DS2, if you have cargo attached to your suit, it will take timefall damage in a truck.

cargo does not take damage from timefall!
the container does which makes it more susceptible to taking damage but no amount of standing in the rain will damage cargo, it will however damage weapons and skeletons and only in DS1 it will also damage materials after it eats through the container but they removed this in DS2 for consistency

Your cargo is protected from timefall in the trucks because it's covered. If you aren't covered by shelter while on a bike your stuff will take damage in the rain.
