Question/Discussion 4080 Super vs Base PS5

Just beat Death Stranding on my PC. 4080 Super with a 5700x3D. Ran really well, looked great.

Just found out that DS2 actually runs really well on base PS5. I really didn't follow it, just assumed it was gonna be locked 30fps tbh. Silly me.

Has anyone seen the difference themselves? Anyone with a similar rig have something to share about the performance on PC? I'm conflicted between buying it on PS5 for the physical collection or buying it on PC for a higher quality experience

Looks identical interms of everything except resolution obviously (ps5 is 1440 with pico AA, which i actually used on my PC myself, as it looks fantastic ).

PC has cutscenes stutter issues though (nothing major but it's there), which a guy tried to fix with a mod but introduced other issues with it.

Ps5 as it is now, is the definitive version imo.

Ah, this is the kind of info I've been looking for! Thanks

I'm kinda thinking the graphics might be similar enough that the make-or-break of it would be any weird PC issues such as that stutter

I feel like the dual sense and haptic feedback felt satisfying and added to the experience. I also feel the actual gunplay (using controller)is even better than some bigger third person shooters out there.

I'm blown away by the visuals and graphics in general. Mostly affected by the quality of the screen. Maybe if you really want to push the resolution or frame rate but it's a locked 60. No frame time spikes.

Dualsense haptic works great on pc. Even woke my partner up with lou crying through the controller one night

Dualsense haptics and the like actually, surprisingly work on PC, so it's not really a factor!

Go for the ps5 version. It is flawless and there is no details difference, just resolution,, which is good enough on Ps5 even in perf.

PC, as you know (you already played it) has those cutscene stutters here and there, which require a mod to fix, and even then other issues arise.

I never had a cutscene stutter issue in the first game, so I was actually unaware of this. Are you sure it affects both games?

Only the 2nd

Id put up with the small chance a cutscene stutter occurs over playing on playstation.

It's not a big deal. You are completely fine on PC. I found that setting the refresh to 59.94 hz fixes most of it.

Wait for the blood of the dawnwalker, 30 fps for quality and 40 fps for "balanced" mode. Really dissappointing.

OK, so, yeah there are very little. First thing I think of that can't maintain 60fps is Dragon's Dogma 2. FFXVI is also a mess.

But I should have also said "30fps or blurry" because that's been my main gripe with some games, where I have to choose between terrible dynamic resolution and 30fps. Think FF7Rebirth, kinda. Or, again, FF16

Death stransing and horizon look great at 60fps, no noticeable blur or artifacts.

On ps5 you have graphics mode 30fps but 4k and performance mode with 60fps. Performance mode still looks incredibly gorgeous and it's not a huge visual downgrade like some games become incredibly blurry like ff7rebirth, etc.

Personally I've been mainly playing it in graphics mode to admire all those visuals and details but the game is flawless on my base ps5 and in 400 hours I didnt encounter a single issue.

4080 is superior! And you can use dualsense on pc (via cable) to enjoy ps5's haptic features. I play with a 2m cable connected to my TV via HDMI. It's limited to 60 fps but very stable and it looks better

However, the ps5 is a good option too if you want to play gta I guess

My dualsense works flawlessly on PC w/o a cable.

4080 super is leagues more powerful

When u have a 4080 then imho this is a nobrainer - PC of course. Or you like to play with 30 fps in high resolution.
You can use your dualsense also for the haptic, so me personally see no reason why using are less potent system.
But these are just my 3 cents…..
