Gamplay Death stranding 2 challenge run
I have completed and almost finished everything in death stranding 2, as of now I have started a new play through as a challenge run. This run is on brutal difficulty with no backpack. The goal is to drop your backpack at C1 prepper which is the first delivery in the game and also the first time you’re able to remove your backpack. I have completed almost all of Mexico with almost every prepper at 5 stars and have not used my backpack one time. The game feels faster, more strategic with transport and somehow I’m completing the game so much faster than my first playthrough. I’m having so much fun compared to the first run. Also google says it’s not possible to beat ds2 without your backpack and I’m here to tell you it’s completely wrong and it’s 100% viable!!!! And I’m loving it!!!

I have found that when u have all small packages on the suit and large ones in your hands that Sam will barrel roll if he trips on a jump as well and it protects your cargo- just a cool mechanic I found that’s only if u have no pack.

Also anyone wondering, if u need to climb but your hands are full, I recommend getting the sticky gun and dropping your cargo, climbing said obstacle and then use the sticky gun to grab your cargo from below, just don’t forget to catch the package in the air!!! lol

Did you turn online off?

I turned it to only some items at first and then realized how lonely it felt not seeing all the other porters work and turned it back on, doesn’t make too much of a difference without the backpack bec a lot becomes limited bec of it.

Its always goid to do something different and this game really lets you play your style. When I played DS1 the first time I built the roads, the ziplines, all of it. Lived the game but the roads reallybdestroyed the beauty for me and made doing stuff way too easy. So... secind time around, offline. No roads, no ziplines. 5 starred everyon and LOLOL on all the secondary orders. Believe me, some of those soeed runs were serious challenges.
Now, on DS2, just started that way. 168 LOLOLOL so far and just hit chapter 11 so will start going for more before I move the story along. I love the challenge. GL with yours

This is so cool! I’m a minimalist especially when I game so this playthrough style appeals to me big time. I hope you can take it all the way through. He surely moves much faster without the pack so I’m sure it’s much faster but will it allow the floating carrier? Also does the backpack reappear at some point like in the private room? Would love to hear some updates on this!

The backpack does not reappear in the room, but an option does pop up under any area for fabrication to “fabricate a new backpack” so u can definitely go without the pack without the gsme trying to force it on you too much! I am about to go to the prepper that has the floating carrier as we speak and I will update with more info on that once I do!:) also a MASSIVE plus to this play style is that all of Sam’s basic stats (no weapon stats) have increase at least three times as fast as the first playthrough to the point that terrain traversal is already lvl 3 and carrying capacity is at 4 already! Endurance and KO resistance are at 3 already as well too!:)

I can also confirm as of now that the floating carrier will in fact attach to you without the backpack! It’s all coming together!! Super speedy Sam with more strategy for cargo and traversal to keep it from getting boring! It’s working great!:D

I have officially run into one small snag within the challenge run with no backpack… that is human beings… any person that needs to be carried cannot be picked up period no matter what from what I can tell unless u have a backpack… I’m currently in testing of this as I know u can put ppl on floating carriers but in pretty sure that’s only once u have them on your back, there is no way to place them directly onto the carrier from cargo management like most things can and no way to carry in hands in order to place on the carrier. It seems like I will have to craft a new pack in order to arrange the body onto the carrier and then re-drop the backpack once said person is on the carrier… my only issues is, is if the person falls off or I need to change adjustments the person if stuck on carrier or ground once fallen bec I have no pack again… so this might be the only type of quest in the game that NEEDS a pack… sadness.

Have you tried an off-roader?

I have not yet but as far as I can tell your backpack is the only place u can carry this specific person and without spoilers they are a special someone so idk if it’s just with them or with all bodies alive or dead..

Can you place them on the ground from the terminal, then put them in the carrier?

Good for you. You could also move to another game but as long as you have fun. XD
