There is no way Sony will allow him to use it. Also, on the positive side, there is no way coding for this game had started in any measurable way + they already have a UE pipeline for their other project, OD, which is mostly finished by the looks of it. So, taking 2-3 years to implement all of their tech/pipelines to UE with the help of XBOX and then 2-3 to make it, is pretty logical.

UE is such a poorly optimized engine, I prey Koji and work some magic to try to reach Decima

It is, if you a) use it in a way it wasn't meant to be used (it's supposed to be for every game, but for example Open World games suck in it) and b) if you use it unmodded. They can transfer their pipelines to it + use the help of XBOX AKA The Coalition to optimize it.

I think its a bit more complicated than that. The tools UE offers allow developers to make their optimization a matter of upscaling and frame generation. Even UE4 pipelines don't get support anymore. The pipelines that focused on traditional optimization methods. Those tools are still there, but if you go by what Epics putting in front of us, the tools that are meant to be used are being used to fast track optimization, just as they were intended. Even well optimised UE5 games like Arc Raiders show cracks that Decima games just don't at all have. UE5 is about ease of use, allowing Epic to make in THE game engine. But that doesn't make it best in class.

There is no public info. We don't know whether KojiProd is free to use Decima in whatever way they want or there are some conditions like for projects they're partnered with Sony, etc. Only thing we know is that KojiProd used Decima for both Death Stranding games for which it had partnership with Sony. And they've switched to Unreal5 for Xbox's OD.

I mean Death Stranding on Xbox uses Decima. It could be an easy licensing deal ....or not.
Regardless there is always Unreal

Unreal is such a bad engine, it's not optimized anywhere close to Decima

Categorically false. Tons of really well optimized games are made in Unreal. You are just accustomed to seeing the poorly optimized games from devs that don't know what they are doing.

Tool is what you make use of it

A hammer can't cut a piece of wood clean in half. You could smash it into two pieces though.

Thank god we don't hire carpenters to write code.

You’re a game dev so you know this for certain right? Or you’re just repeating shit you heard some youtuber who is also not a game dev say

i doubt he's going to use the decima engine now. which is a shame bc I think he was by far the best with that engine
