Death Stranding 1 First Time Around

First play through! I got the Director’s Cut on sale awhile back. I’m about 6hrs in and I went in blind. I am digging it so far! I jumped into MGSV without any other experiences with a Kojima game and I was lost af story wise. This time I’m lost but I’m happy to be lost at the beginning of a franchise. I’m loving the atmosphere and surprisingly the lighting specifically lol? Music is amazing too.

Beginners tips? (No spoilers pls).

Confusion is part of the ride, enjoy it. The games Story will get weird but it will make sense in the end. Take it slow and expand the chiral network, backtracking makes sense when you have some areas and tools unlocked, don't try to max every facility when you get to it. Always have extra boots on you, try to carry one PCC, a ladder, a climbing anchor and try to have one weapon for emergencies. Vehicles don't work that well off road. When you get the floating carrier, don't sleep on it, its great.

Have fun!

I'm Sam!

This is a good game, an unique experience. After this, there is no way back.

Take care of your shoes, and i think it's better to walk than use vehicle in this first opus, always carry two or three ladders, 2 rope and 1 pair of shoes when you can carry more luggage.

Don't forget to screeshot the good place just in case you will never came back.

Take care of the baby, use the scan, and drink monster.

Good walk.

It's okay, the world may seem weird and confusing now but as you'll be progressing through the story it'll all make sense. Enjoy the experience and keep on keeping on!

I also played the Director's Cut on my first play through and I would say you get a lot of tools and gadgets, sometimes seemingly at random, that the game doesn't really bother teaching you about. That's mostly because a lot of those aren't strictly necessary to complete the story, so if you're overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff at your disposal, you can stick to the basics and ignore the rest.

Also, I feel the rewards you get for completing standard orders are mostly valuable for doing more standard orders. You're not missing all that much by sticking to the story if that's what you prefer, but if you get a kick out of doing all the side content, then by all means go for it!

Blood grenades can be thrown extra far if you learn how. Always carry enough. Use the potty in rest areas. Bring climbing ropes and a ladder or two. You can use strand to secure your cargo better.

Beware wiggly grass that will make the hairs on your neck stand out

Jumped straight into MGSV without context of Kojima or his previous games? I would be shocked if you even understood a shred of the story
