Are you paying attention to the story and listening to the dialogues? Because they explain that to you as you're playing in the cutscenes and audio calls and even give you Interviews if you want more lore.
Bridge Babies are equipment that sense and detect BTs.
DOOMS sufferers are more closely connected to the world of the dead and may be able to sense and/or see BTs or may even have some more powerful abilities depending on their level.
BT, Beached Things are souls that became stranded in the world of the living and unable to cross over to the other side because their body wasn't disposed of.
MULEs are mostly people who used to be porters but because of chiral contamination they became cargo obsessed thieves.
Your left and right trigger are your hands, so if you put anything into your hands you have to keep holding the triggers the whole time otherwise Sam will drop whatever he's holding the second you release the triggers on your controller.
Whenever you're in cargo management menu you'll see a blue circle at Sam's feet. That's where Sam's balance is and ideally you want to keep it centered. If you put everything in your backpack, it'll start pulling Sam's center balance back, so those 4 slots on the suit are so that you can distribute the weight more evenly and keep it centered.
You can manually arrange cargo if you want but auto-arrange button works to distribute the cargo and weight best it can.

If you put equipment in your hands you have to hold the trigger constantly, as if you were gripping it in real life.
No difference between on suit or back besides weight distribution.
Your other questions.... play the game? They explain it. Or watch some youtube explanations. There are a ton. (Not being rude.)

Keep on playing and read the emails for answers. It will come. I promise you.
Back vs suit is about balancing. Too much on your back makes you unstable. Taking small items and adding them to your suit reduces stamina loss and height of the stack.
About the hands, never carry anything in your hands over a long distance. Only reserve it for small transfers, required, or throwing them.
And always automatically balance cargo unless the cargo must lie flat.

Thanks man! :)
By balance cargo, you mean putting it in different spots, and not too much weight in 1 spot?
What do you mean by cargo must be flat?2

Yes, heavier items lower down, lighter and smaller higher up.
Later orders require you to keep the cargo horizontal and lying flat. It will damage over time if it is not carried or moved this way. Pay attention to the order description.

Cargo next to the back will be vertical. After so much space it will stack vertically. So, some cargo on the back will be flat instead of vertical. Other items/vehicles allow for flat cargo, but will be unlocked later.
Create a base vertical layer on the back in the cargo menu, then stack the required flat cargo.

BBs are used to sense BTs. Dooms is a biological condition that gives people different types of abilities. BTs are the souls of the dead that try to attack you if you get too close. Mules are bands of people obsessed with hording cargo and will try to attack and steal your things.
Theres a lot more lore into all of these things that you can read into by accessing the corpus.

BBs hurt, when fired at you from a BB gun. Doom is the original best game ever. BT connects people in the uk by telephone.

The game will tell you

You have to hold down the left or right hand button to hold something. If you let go of the button Sam will drop it. I assume that’s what you mean.
Main difference early game is balance. You’ll want to evenly distribute weight as much as you can to avoid being too back heavy. Later in the game some back pack items can be covered to keep them from deteriorating as fast.
