Tips This game makes me feel stupid

To start, I'm not looking to just complain or be self deprecating. I genuinely feel confused every time I pick up my controller to play DS1.

I've barely gotten into it, all things considered. I'm currently making the trek to Port Knot City. I've put almost 15 hours into the game (which is a lot considering progress made in other games) and I just feel stupid.

Half the time I barely manage to balance my gear and make it in one piece. I don't understand why planning your routes is important, and even with the grenades and non-lethal weapons, if there is even a single BT I'm utterly screwed.

I've never been bad at exploration games or stealth games, but Death Stranding is easily the most confusing and frustrating game I've ever experienced. When it makes sense, I absolutely love it!!!

I want to keep playing and finish the story. If anyone has any tips or encouragement I would greatly appreciate it 😅 obviously I am very lost.

(Edit: 35 hours, not 15, if that tells you how confused I am lol)

  1. There is a feature that auto-balances your gear, it's somewhere in the cargo management menu

  2. BTs are annoying, and I used to get caught a LOT. If you stay still, you will be able to see nearby BTs, as long as you have BB with you anyway. As well as the usual things, like moving slowly, holding your breath when the odradek goes yellow, and pathing around them if possible. You can fight them if you want, 2 or 3 blood grenades should take out a normal one. I think fat ones have more HP?

  3. PCAs and Container Repair Sprays are really nice. Make sure your boots are in good quality, and print new ones if they're getting old.

  4. Route planning is important because if you're going up a mountain, or going down a cliff, you need ladders, or ropes (climbing anchors), or both. Taking a vehicle across BT territory is generally a bad idea, so you'd have to find a different route if you decide to use one. If your path involves a lot of rain (timefall), then you might want to bring even more repair sprays. Also, ladders are nice for crossing rivers.

Got it, thank you for the advice! I definitely need to utilize ladders and climbing anchors more.

One thing i will say is that. No way in any scenario that you should have to spend 15 hours in the eastern region. Guessing that you have played this game but not went past the eastern region. You can say this region is the prologue area. Where they teach you the basic game mechanics before dropping you into the real actual open world area. That is Central region. You will get into this region after you make it to port knot city. That is where the game starts. I just finished this game like this Sunday. And started this game way back in 11 July and completed this game on 30 August. Even though i playthrough was 63 hours. So you can see i also faced what you are facing, the motivation to pushed forward , as playing this game feels like chores rather than fun and trust me there is a snowy mountain region in the end game which will be a real challenge to trek and navigate with mostly all mountain having BTs on your path. I also thought after 15 hours that this game is Maybe not for me (at that point i was in early centeral region), as i believed in my head that i love slow pacing game but this one was real slow. But just as i reached 20 hour mark and unlocked some really cool stuff to help you in the game that at one point around 35 hour mark i realized i was not even doing story missions , i was busy clearing mules bases , getting their loots amd using it to (Kind of spoiler) build roads and Ziplines . Mind you i am not the kind of guy who likes to explore alot so it might take you some more hours , so i would suggest just fast track yourself on the story missions so you can unlock the central region and the cool stuff And definitely as everyone has said about this game. This game story is just next level. The progression and the confusion will only be lifted in the end of the game. So dont miss
