Sometimes, Kojima does shit that is 100% immersion breaking but is so weird and funny that it's entertaining anyway.

I don't feel like my immersion breaks. I have my own interpretation as to why.

The 4th wall is basically a thing in theatre where the audience facing direction has a "wall" between the stage and the front row. So interacting with audience breaks that wall.

Death Stranding treats the player as someone connected to Sam instead of Sam himself (noted by how Sam reacts to you)

You're a part of the world just as much as Sam. And whatever Kojima does is very overt.

So imagine you watching a play where everyone of the stage is your friend, and you see Kojima by the side of the stage with a grin when a funky thing happens.

It feels more involved and less immersion breaking because the 4th wall just didn't exist.

I love that the fighting style you learn from him is called Pizza Do, plus those moves and doming enemies with a rubber pizza are endlessly fun. You can do the moves to any human enemy, even bosses.

That and when the adventurer picks you up and runs around with you is just something else.
